Abstract

The invention relates to a use of one, two, three or more certain polyols for enhancing the cooling effect of a cooling substance. It further relates to a cooling mixture comprising a cooling effect enhancing polyol and a cooling substance consisting of one or more physiologically cooling compounds and optionally further compounds having a further enhancing effect on the cooling effect of the substance, too. Moreover the invention relates to a method for producing a corresponding cooling mixture and a method for generating an enhanced cooling effect of a cooling substance on the skin or a mucous membrane.

         16 . A cooling mixture comprising:
 (a) at least one physiological cooling compound,   (b) at least one polyol selected from the group consisting of branched or unbranched alkanediols and branched or unbranched alkanetriols, each having 3-12 carbon atoms, and   (c) at least one substance selected from the group consisting of silicon oils, terpenes, musk compounds, abrasives, and tensides.   
     
     
         17 . The cooling mixture of  claim 16 , wherein the at least one polyol is a branched or unbranched alkanediol having 3 to 12 carbon atoms. 
     
     
         18 . The cooling mixture of  claim 16 , wherein the ratio between the amount by weight of the at least one physiological cooling compound and the at least one polyol is 1:20 to 1:0.1. 
     
     
         19 . The cooling mixture of  claim 18 , wherein the ratio between the amount by weight of the at least one physiological cooling compound and the at least one polyol is 1:10 to 1:0.5. 
     
     
         20 . The cooling mixture of  claim 19 , wherein the ratio between the amount by weight of the at least one physiological cooling compound and the at least one polyol is 1:5 to 1:1. 
     
     
         21 . A cosmetic composition or a sanitary article comprising a cooling mixture as claimed in  claim 16 . 
     
     
         22 . A hair care product or a skin care product comprising a cooling mixture as claimed in  claim 16 . 
     
     
         23 . The sanitary article of  claim 21  selected from the group consisting of a sanitary towel, a tampon, and a nappy. 
     
     
         24 . The cooling mixture of  claim 17 , wherein the ratio between the amount by weight of the at least one physiological cooling compound and the at least one polyol is 1:20 to 1:0.1. 
     
     
         25 . A method for enhancing a cooling effect on skin or a mucous membrane comprising applying a mixture according to  claim 16  to the skin or the mucous membrane, thereby enhancing the cooling effect. 
     
     
         26 . A method for enhancing a cooling effect on skin or a mucous membrane comprising applying a cooling mixture to the skin or the mucous membrane, wherein the cooling mixture comprises:
 (a) at least one physiological cooling compound; and   (b) at least one polyol selected from the group consisting of branched or unbranched alkanediols and branched or unbranched alkanetriols, each having 3-12 carbon atoms;   thereby enhancing a cooling effect on the skin or the mucous membrane.   
     
     
         27 . The method of  claim 26 , wherein the at least one polyol is a branched or unbranched alkanediol having 3 to 12 carbon atoms. 
     
     
         28 . The method of  claim 26 , wherein the ratio between the amount by weight of the at least one physiological cooling compound and the at least one polyol is 1:20 to 1:0.1. 
     
     
         29 . The method of  claim 26 , wherein the ratio between the amount by weight of the at least one physiological cooling compound and the at least one polyol is 1:10 to 1:0.5. 
     
     
         30 . The method of  claim 26 , wherein the ratio between the amount by weight of the at least one physiological cooling compound and the at least one polyol is 1:5 to 1:1.
