Method and digital broadcasting system for transmitting and receiving esg
Abstract
A method and a digital broadcasting system for transmitting and receiving an Electronic Service Guide (ESG) are provided. When there are ESG fragments to be transmitted through a communication network among ESG fragments included in ESG data, a digital broadcast transmitter generates an ESG data session such that the ESG data session may include route information through the communication network of the relevant ESG fragments. Then, the digital broadcast transmitter transmits the generated ESG data session to a broadcast receiving terminal, which obtains the route information through the communication network of the relevant ESG fragments. Accordingly, a user can more easily and conveniently receive the ESG data by using the route information through the communication network obtained by the broadcast receiving terminal.

exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A method for transmitting a Program Guide (PG) of a digital broadcast transmitter, the method comprising:
determining whether there are second fragments to be transmitted through a communication network among first Electronic Service Guide (ESG) fragments included in PG data; generating a data session that includes route information of the second fragments if there are the second fragments; transmitting the data session to a terminal.
2 . The method as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the route information corresponds to Uniform Resource Locator (URL) information.
3 . The method as claimed in claim 1 , wherein generating the data session comprises:
generating the data session such that the data session includes the route information in a Partition Declaration field of an ESG Init Container of an ESG Announcement Carousel File Delivery over Unidirectional Transport Protocol (FLUTE) session in order to transmit the data session in a multi-stream mode.
4 . The method as claimed in claim 3 , wherein the ESG Init Container of the ESG Announcement Carousel FLUTE session includes an Index List field and an Index Structure field, the Index List field including index information indicating an order of each set of the second fragments, and the Index Structure field including version information for determining whether there is an update of the second fragments.
5 . The method as claimed in claim 1 , wherein generating the data session comprises:
generating the data session such that the data session includes the route information in an ESG Access Descriptor of an ESG Bootstrap FLUTE session in order to transmit the data session in a single stream mode.
6 . The method as claimed in claim 4 , wherein the Index List field and the Index Structure field is included in an ESG Init Container of an ESG Single Stream FLUTE session in a single stream mode.
7 . A digital broadcast transmitter for transmitting a Program Guide (PG), the digital broadcast transmitter comprising:
a metadata aggregation unit for generating a data session including route information of second fragments if there are the second fragments to be transmitted through a communication network among first fragments included in PG data; and an antenna for transmitting the data session to a terminal.
8 . The digital broadcast transmitter as claimed in claim 7 , wherein the route information corresponds to Uniform Resource Locator (URL) information.
9 . The digital broadcast transmitter as claimed in claim 7 , wherein the metadata aggregation unit generates the data session such that the data session includes the route information in a Partition Declaration field of an ESG Init Container of an ESG Announcement Carousel FLUTE session in the data session in order to transmit the data session in a multi-stream mode.
10 . The digital broadcast transmitter as claimed in claim 9 , wherein the ESG Init Container of the ESG Announcement Carousel FLUTE session includes an Index List field and an Index Structure field, the Index List field including index information indicating an order of each set of the second fragments, and the Index Structure field including version information for determining whether there is an update of the second fragments.
11 . The digital broadcast transmitter as claimed in claim 7 , wherein the metadata aggregation unit generates the data session such that the data session includes the route information in an ESG Access Descriptor of an ESG Bootstrap FLUTE session in the ESG data session in order to transmit the data session in a single stream mode.
12 . The digital broadcast transmitter as claimed in claim 10 , wherein the Index List field and the Index Structure field is included in an ESG Init Container of an ESG Single Stream FLUTE session in a single stream mode.
13 . A method for receiving a Program Guide (PG) of a terminal, the method comprising:
receiving a data session from a digital broadcast transmitter; determining whether there is route information through a communication network in the data session; and if there is the route information, obtaining the route information.
14 . The method as claimed in claim 13 , wherein obtaining the route information comprises:
receiving an ESG Bootstrap FLUTE session from the digital broadcast transmitter; determining whether the ESG Bootstrap FLUTE session is in either a single stream mode or a multi-stream mode; receiving an ESG Announcement Carousel FLUTE session if the ESG Bootstrap FLUTE session is in the multi-stream mode; determining whether the route information is included in an ESG Init Container; connecting to a broadcast server corresponding to the route information in response to a request of a user if it is determined that the route information is included in the ESG Init Container of the ESG Announcement Carousel FLUTE session; and receiving relevant fragments from the broadcast server.
15 . The method as claimed in claim 14 , further comprising:
if the route information is not included in the ESG Init Container, acquiring an Internet Protocol (IP) address corresponding to a transmission route of fragments in a broadcasting network from the ESG Init Container; and receiving the fragments in an ESG FLUTE session via the broadcasting network by using the IP address.
16 . The method as claimed in claim 13 , further comprising:
determining whether the route information is included in an ESG Access Descriptor of a ESG Bootstrap FLUTE session if the ESG Bootstrap FLUTE session is in the single stream mode; connecting to a broadcast server corresponding to the route information in response to a request of a user if the route information is included in the ESG Access Descriptor of the ESG Bootstrap FLUTE session; and receiving relevant fragments from the broadcast server.
17 . The method as claimed in claim 16 , further comprising:
acquiring an IP address corresponding to a transmission route of the fragments in a broadcasting network from the ESG Access Descriptor of the ESG Bootstrap FLUTE session if the route information is not included in the ESG Access Descriptor; and receiving the fragments in an ESG Single Stream FLUTE session through the broadcasting network by using the IP address.
18 . A terminal for receiving a Program Guide (PG), the terminal comprising:
an antenna for receiving a data session; a processing unit for determining whether route information through a communication network is included in the data session, and obtaining the route information if the route information is included in the data session.
19 . The terminal as claimed in claim 18 , wherein the processing unit acquires relevant fragments based on the route information included in the data session if there is a request of a user.
20 . The terminal as claimed in claim 18 further comprising,
if the route information is not included in the data session, the processing unit acquires an Internet Protocol (IP) address corresponding to a transmission route of the fragments to be transmitted through a broadcasting network, and
the antenna receives the fragments transmitted through the broadcasting network based on the IP address.Cited by (0)
