. The implantation system of claim 1 , wherein the primary template has a circumferential limiting flange that provides a self-limiting feature for controlling the depth of the recess.

. The implantation system of claim 1 , wherein the secondary template has a circumferential limiting flange that provides a self-limiting feature for controlling the depth of the bone attachment component area.

. The implantation system of claim 1 wherein the self-limiting feature of the secondary template, the surgical drill, or both, provides for a depth accuracy of about 0.5 mm or less.

. The implantation system of claim 1 , wherein the surgical jig includes:
an insert having an access hole and one or more securing features for securing to the primary and secondary templates, wherein the insert supports the primary template during the milling step of the surgical procedure; and a platform having an open center wherein the platform supports the insert, and wherein the platform and insert includes a corresponding feature for securing the components together.

. The implantation system of claim 57 , wherein the clamp includes one or more means of accurately repositioning the primary and secondary templates over a second target bone area while the clamp remains clamped over an initial target bone area.
