Abstract

An assembly is described. The assembly has a protective shield for a helmet, such as a full visor, a partial visor or a chin guard and a pivot adapted to pivot the protective shield on a shell of the helmet. The assembly also has a locking device.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . An assembly comprising:
a protective shield for a helmet, a locking device ( 24 ), and a pivot adapted to pivot the protective shield with respect to a shell of the helmet, wherein the pivot is adapted to be detached from the protective shield, and wherein said locking device is a removable locking device action, and is adapted to be actuated to lock the protective shield to the pivot and to release a connection between the protective shield and the pivot.

2 . The assembly according to claim 1 , wherein said locking device includes a locking element housed in a seat, and the locking element is adapted to assume at least a first engagement position, in which the locking element interacts with the pivot to provide an engagement, and a second position, in which the locking element is in a spaced relationship with respect to the pivot such as to allow separation of the protective shield from the pivot.

3 . The assembly according to claim 2 , wherein the locking element can be operated by a user.

4 . The assembly according to claim 2 , wherein the locking element is connected to the protective shield both in the first engagement position and in the second position.

5 . The assembly according to claim 2 , wherein the locking element is a slide member adapted to be moved between the first engagement position and the second position by means of translation.

6 . The assembly according to claim 2 , wherein the locking element is an arm adapted to be moved between the first engagement position and the second position by means of rotation.

7 . The assembly according to claim 2 , wherein the protective shield comprises a seat for accommodating the locking element and a housing for receiving a head portion of the pivot,
wherein said housing is included in, or coincides with, a part of said seat and said locking element is adapted to assume in said seat i) said first engagement position in which said locking element is arranged partly inside said housing and retains said head portion of the pivot and ii) said second position in which said locking element is spaced from said housing and frees said head portion of the pivot.

8 . The assembly according to claim 7 , wherein the housing for said head portion of the pivot coincides with an end part of the seat.

9 . The assembly according to any one of the preceding claim 2 , wherein the seat has an inlet mouth facing an edge of the protective shield and said locking element is accessible from said edge of the protective shield.

10 . The assembly according to any one of the preceding claim 2 , further comprising at least one spring, wherein said at least one spring is in a deformed condition when the locking element is in the second position, and wherein said at least one spring is in a rest condition, when the locking element is in the first engagement position.

11 . The assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the protective shield is transparent.

12 . The assembly according to claim 1 , further comprising a recess formed in the protective shield, wherein the locking device is received in said recess so as to be incorporated in a thickness of the protective shield.

13 . The assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the locking device is associated with the protective shield and is a member detachable from the protective shield.

14 . The assembly according to claim 1 , wherein the protective shield is a visor.

         15 . A helmet ( 15 ) including an assembly according to claim 1 .

16 . A method for connecting a protective shield for a helmet to a pivot adapted to pivot the protective shield with respect to a shell of the helmet, wherein the method comprises the steps of:
removably locking the pivot to the protective shield, and disengaging the pivot from the protective shield for removal of the protective shield from the shell of the helmet.

17 . The method according to claim 16 , wherein in order to removably lock the pivot to the protective shield, a locking element is moved manually between a first position in which said locking element retains the pivot and a second position in which said locking element is in a spaced relationship with respect to the pivot and allows removal of the pivot from the protective shield.
