Abstract
A composition for a recycled plastic composite composition, and a method of making the composite composition, is provided. The composite composition includes recycled EVA from 30% to 80% and a stone powder from 20% to 70%; percentages by weight
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A recycled plastic composite composition, comprising:
about 30% to 80% by weight based on total weight of the composition of a recycled plastic; and about 20% to 70% by weight based on total weight of the composition of a calcium carbonate containing material.
2 . The composition of claim 1 wherein:
the recycled plastic is present in an amount greater than 70% and less than or equal to 80% by weight based on total weight of the composition; and
the calcium carbonate containing material is present in an amount greater than 20% and less than or equal to 30% by weight based on total weight of the composition.
3 . The composition of claim 1 wherein:
the recycled plastic is present in an amount greater than 60% and less than or equal to 70% by weight based on total weight of the composition; and
the calcium carbonate containing; material is present in an amount greater than 30% and less than or equal to 40% by weight based on total weight of the composition.
4 . The composition of claim 1 wherein:
the recycled plastic, is present in an amount greater than 50% and less than or equal to 60% by weight based on total weight of the composition; and
the calcium carbonate containing material is present in an amount greater than 40% and less than or equal to 50% by weight based on total weight of the composition.
5 . The composition of claim 1 wherein:
the recycled plastic is present in an amount greater than 40% and less than or equal to 50% by weight based on total weight of the composition; and
the calcium carbonate containing material is present in an amount greater than 50% and less than or equal to 60% weight based on total weight of the composition.
6 . The composition of claim 1 wherein:
the recycled plastic is present in an amount greater than 30% and less than or equal to 40% by weight based on total weight of the composition; and
the calcium carbonate containing material is present in an amount greater than 60% and less than or equal to 70% by weight based on total weight of the composition.
7 . The composition of claim 1 wherein the composition further comprises talc.
8 . The composition of claim 1 wherein the recycled plastic comprises recycled ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer.
9 . The composition of Claim I wherein the recycled plastic comprises at least one material selected from the group consisting of recycled ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer, recycled chlorinated polypropylene, recycled polyvinyl chloride, and recycled polyethylene.
10 . A method of preparing a recycled plastic composite composition, comprising:
obtaining 30% to 80% by weight based on total weight of the composition of a recycled plastic and 20% to 70% by weight based on total weight of the composition of a calcium carbonate containing material; melting together the recycled plastic and the calcium carbonate containing material to form a thick composite; and molding the thick composite to obtain said recycled plastic composite composition.
11 . The method of claim 10 wherein the step of melting together the recycled plastic and the calcium carbonate containing material to form a thick composite includes the step of:
heating the recycled plastic and the calcium carbonate containing material to between about 160° C. to 240° C.
12 . The method of claim 10 wherein the calcium carbonate containing material is from 600 mesh to 1200 mesh.
13 . The method of claim 10 wherein the composition further comprises talc.
14 . The method of claim 10 wherein the step of melting together components comprises the steps of:
combining pellets of the recycled plastic and the calcium carbonate containing material to produce a composite mixture;
feeding the composite mixture to a screw melting machine with electric heating;
heating the composite mixture to produce a thick composite; and
conveying the thick composite to an outlet.
15 . The method of claim 14 wherein the step of molding comprises the steps of:
conveying the thick composite into a mold; and
cooling the thick composite.
16 . The method of claim 15 wherein the step of cooling the thick composite comprises the steps of:
circulating cooling water to de-mold the thick composite,
demolding the thick composite; and
immersing the thick composite in water to be cooled completely.
17 . A recycled plastic composite article comprising:
a recycled plastic composite composition, comprising: about 30% to 80% by weight based on total weight of the composition of a recycled plastic; and about 20% to 70% by weight based on total weight of the composition of a calcium carbonate containing material.
18 . The recycled plastic composite device of claim 17 wherein the article is a flowerpot.
19 . A method of making a recycled plastic composite article comprising the steps of:
obtaining pellets of a recycled plastic and a calcium carbonate containing material; mixing pellets of a recycled plastic and a calcium carbonate containing material to create a composite mixture feeding the composite mixture to a screw melting machine; melting together the recycled plastic and the calcium carbonate containing material to form a thick composite; conveying the thick composite to a mold of a hydraulic press having a mold; applying pressure to the mold; allowing the thick composite to cool; and de-molding the thick composite.
20 . The method of claim 19 wherein the step of obtaining pellets of a recycled plastic and a calcium carbonate containing material comprises the step of:
obtaining 30% to 80% by weight based on total weight of the composition of a recycled plastic and 20% to 70% by weight based on total weight of the composition of a calcium carbonate containing material;
21 . The method of claim 19 wherein the step of allowing the thick composite to cool includes the steps of:
