Claims

Abstract

A gaming machine is configured to receive a request for a location of at least one player of at least one gaming device, determine the location of the at least one player; and present on a display of the gaming machine, location information including the determined location of the at least one player. Where the gaming machine is located within a casino, the gaming machine may further be configured to present, on the display, a 3D virtual gaming environment which is a model of the casino.

The invention is claimed as follows: 
     
         1 . A device comprising:
 at least one processor; and   at least one memory device storing a plurality of instructions which, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to:   receive a request for a location of at least one player of at least one gaming device from a handheld device;   determine the location of the at least one player based upon gaming information derived from the at least one gaming device of the at least one player; and   transmit location information comprising the determined location of the at least one player to the handheld device.   
     
     
         2 . The device of  claim 1  wherein the location information includes at least one of: a map and directions to the at least one player. 
     
     
         3 . The device of  claim 1 , wherein the handheld device is a cellular phone. 
     
     
         4 . A method of operating a device, said method comprising:
 causing at least one processor to execute a plurality of instructions to receive a request for a location of at least one player of at least one gaming device from a handheld device;   causing the at least one processor to execute the plurality of instructions to determine the location of the at least one player based upon gaming information derived from the at least one gaming device of the at least one player; and   causing the at least one processor to execute the plurality of instructions to transmit location information comprising the determined location of the at least one player to the handheld device.   
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 4  wherein the location information includes at least one of: a map and directions to the at least one player. 
     
     
         6 . The method of  claim 4 , wherein the handheld device is a cellular phone. 
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 4 , which is provided through a data network. 
     
     
         8 . The method of  claim 7 , wherein the data network is an internet. 
     
     
         9 . A handheld device comprising:
 at least one display device;   at least one processor; and   at least one memory device storing a plurality of instructions which, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to operate with the at least one display device to:   transmit a request for a location of at least one player of at least one gaming device;   receive location information comprising the location of the at least one player, the location information determined based on gaming information derived from the at least one gaming device of the at least one player; and   display the location information.   
     
     
         10 . The handheld device of  claim 9 , wherein the plurality of instructions, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to operate with at least one input device to receive a selection of the at least one player from a plurality of options via a user interface. 
     
     
         11 . The handheld device of  claim 9 , wherein the plurality of instructions, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to operate with the at least one display device to display the location information by displaying a map. 
     
     
         12 . The handheld device of  claim 11 , wherein the map includes a map of at least a portion of a casino. 
     
     
         13 . The handheld device of  claim 11 , wherein the location of the at least one player is displayed as textual information overlaid on the map. 
     
     
         14 . The handheld device of  claim 11 , wherein the location of the at least one player is displayed as a graphical element. 
     
     
         15 . The handheld device of  claim 14 , wherein the graphical element includes at least one of an icon and an image of the at least one player. 
     
     
         16 . The handheld device of  claim 9 , which is a cellular phone. 
     
     
         17 . A method of operating a handheld device, said method comprising:
 causing at least one processor to execute a plurality of instructions stored in at least one memory device to transmit a request for a location of at least one player of at least one gaming device;   causing the at least one processor to execute the plurality of instructions to receive location information comprising the location of the at least one player, the location information determined based on gaming information derived from the at least one gaming device of the at least one player; and   causing the at least one processor to execute the plurality of instructions to operate with at least one display device to display the location information.   
     
     
         18 . The method of  claim 17 , which includes causing the at least one processor to execute the plurality of instructions to operate with at least one input device to receive a selection of the at least one player from a plurality of options via a user interface. 
     
     
         19 . The method of  claim 17 , which includes causing the at least one processor to execute the plurality of instructions to operate with the at least one display device to display the location information by displaying a map. 
     
     
         20 . The method of  claim 19 , wherein the map includes a map of at least a portion of a casino. 
     
     
         21 . The method of  claim 19 , wherein the location of the at least one player is displayed as textual information overlaid on the map. 
     
     
         22 . The method of  claim 18 , wherein the location of the at least one player is displayed as a graphical element. 
     
     
         23 . The method of  claim 22 , wherein the graphical element includes at least one of an icon and an image of the at least one player. 
     
     
         24 . The method of  claim 17 , wherein the handheld device is a cellular phone. 
     
     
         25 . The method of  claim 17 , which is provided through a data network. 
     
     
         26 . The method of  claim 25 , wherein the data network is an internet.
