Low inductance, ferrite sub-gap substrate structure for surface film magnetic recording heads
Abstract
A thin film magnetic recording head is fabricated by forming a substrate from opposing ferrite blocks which have a ceramic member bonded between them. This structure is then diced to form a plurality of columns, wherein each column has a ferrite/ceramic combination. Each column represents a single channel in the completed head. A block of ceramic is then cut to match the columned structure and the two are bonded together. The bonded structure is then cut or ground until a head is formed, having ceramic disposed between each channel. A ferrite back-gap is then added to each channel, minimizing the reluctance of the flux path. The thin film is patterned on the head to optimize various channel configurations.
Claims

52 . Magnetic tape media comprising:
a plurality of servo tracks, each having a timing-based servo pattern written thereon; wherein the plurality of servo tracks are recorded via independently controllable and magnetically isolated magnetic recording head channels using intervals of electrical current comprising different timing from one channel to another.
53 . Magnetic tape media comprising:
a plurality of servo tracks, each having a timing-based servo pattern written thereon; wherein the plurality of servo tracks are recorded via independently controllable and magnetically isolated magnetic recording head channels using electrical current pulses comprising different functions of time from one channel to another.
54 . Magnetic tape media comprising:
a plurality of servo tracks, each having a timing-based servo pattern written thereon; wherein the plurality of servo tracks are recorded via independently controllable and magnetically isolated magnetic recording head channels using electrical current pulses comprising different time signatures from one channel to another.
55 . Magnetic tape media comprising:
a plurality of servo tracks, each having a timing-based servo pattern written thereon; wherein the plurality of servo tracks comprise magnetic transitions that when read back are indicative that the plurality of servo tracks were recorded independently in time.
56 . Magnetic tape media comprising:
a plurality of servo tracks, each having a timing-based servo pattern written thereon; wherein the plurality of servo tracks comprise magnetic transitions that when read back are indicative that the plurality of servo tracks were recorded with different functions of time.
57 . Magnetic tape media comprising:
a plurality of servo tracks, each having a timing-based servo pattern written thereon; wherein the plurality of servo tracks comprise magnetic transitions that when read back are indicative that the plurality of servo tracks were recorded with different time signatures.
58 . Magnetic tape media comprising:
a plurality of timing-based servo tracks, the servo tracks formatted using a multi-channel timing-based surface thin film magnetic recording head comprising a plurality of individually controllable recording channels configured to be driven independently, each when independently driven with an electrical current causing a magnetic transition to occur on the magnetic tape media; wherein one of the plurality of individually controllable recording channels had been driven independently from another of the recording channels with different timing of the electrical current, resulting in magnetic transitions in a corresponding one of the plurality of timing-based servo tracks comprising intervals of different timing from another of the servo tracks.
59 . Magnetic tape media comprising:
a plurality of servo tracks, each servo track having a timing-based servo pattern written thereon with independent and differently timed intervals of electrical current than the other servo tracks, resulting in the plurality of servo tracks comprising timing-based servo patterns of non-identical timing.
60 . Magnetic tape media comprising:
a plurality of servo tracks, each comprising a sequence of timing-based magnetic transitions starting from a first magnetic transition, being the first magnetic transition in the respective servo track, and extending to a last magnetic transition, being the last magnetic transition in the respective servo track; wherein the sequence of magnetic transitions are non-identical from one servo track to another.
61 . Magnetic tape media comprising:
a plurality of servo tracks, each consisting of a sequence of timing-based magnetic transitions, wherein the sequence of magnetic transitions are non-identical from one servo track to another.Cited by (0)
