Multi-segment wearable accessory
Abstract
A method, apparatus and computer program product are provided to facilitate the use of a multi-segment wearable accessory. In this regard, methods, apparatus and computer program products are provided for controlling and, in some instances, interacting with a multi-segment wearable accessory. In particular, a method, apparatus, and computer program product are provided that determine an orientation of a plurality of segments of a multi-segment wearable accessory, identify one of the segments to be associated with a peripheral device at least partially based upon the orientations determined, and provide for an association of the segment identified with the peripheral device. In this way, a particular segment may be selected to present content relating to the peripheral device or vice versa, for example, based on the orientation of the segment with respect to the peripheral device and/or the other segments.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . An apparatus comprising at least one processor and at least one memory including computer program code, the at least one memory and the computer program code configured to, with the processor, cause the apparatus to at least:
provide for a determination of an orientation of a segment of a multi-segment wearable accessory; and provide for an association of the segment with a peripheral device based at least in part on a comparison of the orientation of the segment with an orientation of the peripheral device.
2 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the at least one memory and the computer program code are further configured to, with the processor, cause the apparatus to provide for the determination of the orientation of the segment by obtaining data from inertial measurement unit sensors associated with the segment.
3 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the at least one memory and the computer program code are further configured to, with the processor, cause the apparatus to provide for the determination of the orientation of the segment by receiving data regarding the orientation of the peripheral device.
4 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the at least one memory and the computer program code are further configured to, with the processor, cause the apparatus to provide for a detection of a proximity of the peripheral device to the segment and to provide for the determination of the orientation of the segment based at least in part on the proximity of the peripheral device to the segment.
5 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the at least one memory and the computer program code are further configured to, with the processor, cause the apparatus to provide for the determination of the orientation of the segment in an instance in which the peripheral device is placed in contact with at least one of a plurality of segments of the multi-segment wearable accessory.
6 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the at least one memory and the computer program code are further configured to, with the processor, cause the apparatus to provide for the association of the segment with the peripheral device in an instance in which it is determined that the orientation of the segment approximates the orientation of the peripheral device.
7 . The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the at least one memory and the computer program code are further configured to, with the processor, cause the apparatus to provide for the association of the segment with the peripheral device by configuring a display of the segment to present content relating to the peripheral device.
8 . A method comprising:
providing for a determination of an orientation of a segment of a multi-segment wearable accessory; and providing, via a processor, for an association of the segment with a peripheral device based at least in part on a comparison of the orientation of the segment with an orientation of the peripheral device.
9 . The method of claim 8 further comprising obtaining data from inertial measurement unit sensors associated with the segment.
10 . The method of claim 8 further comprising determining the orientation of the segment by receiving data regarding the orientation of the peripheral device.
11 . The method of claim 8 further comprising providing for a detection of a proximity of the peripheral device to the segment, wherein providing for the determination of the orientation of the segment is based at least in part on the proximity of the peripheral device to the segment.
12 . The method of claim 8 , wherein providing for the association of the segment with the peripheral device comprises providing for the association of the segment with the peripheral device in an instance in which it is determined that the orientation of the segment approximates the orientation of the peripheral device.
13 . The method of claim 8 further comprising configuring a display of the segment to present content relating to the peripheral device.
14 . A computer program product comprising at least one non-transitory computer-readable storage medium having computer-executable program code portions stored therein, the computer-executable program code portions comprising program code instructions for:
providing for a determination of an orientation of a segment of a multi-segment wearable accessory; and providing for an association of the segment with a peripheral device based at least in part on a comparison of the orientation of the segment with an orientation of the peripheral device.
15 . The computer program product of claim 14 , wherein the program code instructions are further configured for obtaining data from inertial measurement unit sensors associated with the segment.
16 . The computer program product of claim 14 , wherein the program code instructions are further configured for determining the orientation of the segment by receiving data regarding the orientation of the peripheral device.
17 . The computer program product of claim 14 , wherein the program code instructions are further configured for providing for a detection of a proximity of the peripheral device to the segment, wherein providing for the determination of the orientation of the segment is based at least in part on the proximity of the peripheral device to the segment.
18 . The computer program product of claim 14 , wherein the program code instructions for providing for the determination of the orientation of the segment comprise program code instructions configured for providing for the determination of the orientation of the segment in an instance in which the peripheral device is placed in contact with at least one of a plurality of segments of the multi-segment wearable accessory.
19 . The computer program product of claim 14 , wherein the program code instructions for providing for the association of the segment with the peripheral device comprise program code instructions configured for providing for the association of the segment with the peripheral device in an instance in which it is determined that the orientation of the segment approximates the orientation of the peripheral device.
20 . The computer program product of claim 14 , wherein the program code instructions are further configured for configuring a display of the segment to present content relating to the peripheral device.Cited by (0)
