Interactive Patient Medication List

Abstract

Systems, methods and devices for managing patient medication data which include, in one implementation, displaying in a user-interface movable medication containers for medications in a list of medications for a patient, each medication container having a corresponding medication category; displaying a receptacle for organizing the medications, the receptacle having multiple layers having corresponding medication categories in a first dimension, each layer configured to receive one or more medication containers; and receiving a first medication container from the movable medication containers that is dragged into a layer in the first dimension having a corresponding medication category that matches the medication category of the first medication container.

         25 . A computer implemented method comprising:
 presenting, by a computer system in a graphical user-interface, a medication list comprising graphical representations of medication containers, the graphical representations of medication containers including a first container for a first drug and a second container for a second drug, with medication data on the containers corresponding to a prescription for the respective container;   determining, by the computer system, a problem in the medication list between the first drug and the second drug on the medication list;   presenting, by the computer system in the graphical user-interface in response to the determining of the problem, a user selectable depiction of the first drug container and the second drug container in physical conflict until a resolution of the problem is received;   transmitting, in response to user input in the form of a selection of the depiction of the first drug container and the second drug container in physical conflict, the determined problem on the medication list to a health care professional for resolution;   receiving a resolution of the problem from the health care professional; and   presenting, by the computer system in the graphical user-interface, a graphical depiction of a health care professional resolving the physical conflict in which the first drug container and the second drug container are presented prior to the receiving of the resolution of the problem from the health care professional.

         27 . The method of  claim 25 , wherein the graphical representations of medication containers are stylized to have human characteristics. 
     
     
         28 . The method of  claim 27 , wherein presenting the user selectable depiction of the first drug container and the second drug container in physical conflict comprises depicting a stylized fight between the first drug container and the second drug container.

The method of  claim 27 , wherein, when the received resolution of the problem indicates that the second drug be removed from the medication list, the presenting of the graphical depiction of the health care professional resolving the physical conflict comprises depicting a stylized declaration by the health care professional that the first drug container is a winner. 
     
     
         30 . The method of  claim 29 , wherein the depicting of the stylized declaration by the health care professional that the first drug container is the winner comprises depicting the second drug container as being tired or slumped over. 
     
     
         31 . The method of  claim 27 , wherein, when the received resolution of the problem indicates that both the first drug and the second drug be retained as part of the medication list, the presenting of the graphical depiction of the health care professional resolving the physical conflict comprises depicting a stylized declaration by the health care professional that both the first drug container and the second drug container are winners. 
     
     
         32 . The method of  claim 25 , comprising:
 detecting, by the computer system, that a pointer moves over a region of the graphical user-interface associated with the user selectable depiction of the first drug container and the second drug container in physical conflict; and   in response to detecting that the pointer moves over the region associated with the user selectable depiction of the first drug container and the second drug container in physical conflict, presenting, by the computer system in the graphical user-interface, information about the determined problem between the first and second drugs.   
     
     
         33 . The method of  claim 25 , comprising, when the received resolution of the problem indicates that the second drug be removed from the medication list, presenting adjacent the second drug container instructions for discarding the second drug in a safe and environmentally sound way. 
     
     
         34 . The method of  claim 33 , comprising:
 receiving input indicating that the second drug has been discarded; and   in response to the received input, removing the second drug container from the medication list.   
     
     
         35 . The method of  claim 34 , wherein the removing of the second drug container from the medication list comprises:
 depicting a pop of the second drug container from the medication list; and   emitting a sound accompanying the depicted pop.   
     
     
         36 . The method of  claim 25 , wherein determining the problem comprises determining that the first drug and the second drug are conflicting drugs. 
     
     
         37 . The method of  claim 25 , wherein determining the problem comprises determining that the first drug and the second drug are therapeutic duplicates. 
     
     
         38 . A system comprising:
 one or more hardware processors; and   non-transitory computer-readable medium encoding instructions that, when executed by the one or more hardware processors, cause the system to perform operations comprising:
 presenting, in a graphical user-interface, a medication list comprising graphical representations of medication containers, the graphical representations of medication containers including a first container for a first drug and a second container for a second drug, with medication data on the containers corresponding to a prescription for the respective container; 
 determining a problem between the first drug and the second drug on the medication list; 
 presenting, in the graphical user-interface in response to the determining of the problem, a user selectable depiction of the first drug container and the second drug container in physical conflict until a resolution of the problem is received; 
 transmitting, in response to user input in the form of a selection of the depiction of the first drug container and the second drug container in physical conflict, the determined problem on the medication list to a health care professional for resolution; 
 receiving a resolution of the problem from the health care professional; and 
 presenting, in the graphical user-interface, a graphical depiction of a health care professional resolving the physical conflict in which the first drug container and the second drug container are presented prior to the receiving of the resolution of the problem from the health care professional. 
   
     
     
         39 . The system of  claim 38 , wherein the graphical representations of medication containers are stylized to have human characteristics. 
     
     
         40 . The system of  claim 39 , wherein the operation of presenting the user selectable depiction of the first drug container and the second drug container in physical conflict comprises depicting a stylized fight between the first drug container and the second drug container.

The system of  claim 39 , wherein, when the received resolution of the problem indicates that the second drug be removed from the medication list, the operation of presenting the graphical depiction of the health care professional resolving the physical conflict comprises depicting a stylized declaration by the health care professional that the first drug container is the winner. 
     
     
         42 . The system of  claim 41 , wherein the depicting of the stylized declaration by the health care professional that the first drug container is the winner comprises depicting the second drug container as being tired or slumped over.

The system of  claim 39 , wherein, when the received resolution of the problem indicates that both the first drug and the second drug be retained as part of the medication list, the operation of presenting the graphical depiction of the health care professional resolving the physical conflict comprises depicting a stylized declaration by the health care professional that both the first drug container and the second drug container are winners. 
     
     
         44 . The system of  claim 38 , wherein the operations comprise
 detecting that a pointer moves over a region of the graphical user-interface associated with the user selectable depiction of the first drug container and the second drug container in physical conflict; and   in response to detecting that the pointer moves over the region of the graphical user-interface associated with the user selectable depiction of the first drug container and the second drug container in physical conflict, presenting, in the graphical user-interface, information about the determined problem between the first and second drugs.

The system of  claim 38 , wherein the operations comprise, when the received resolution of the problem indicates that the second drug be removed from the medication list, presenting adjacent the second drug container instructions for discarding the second drug in a safe and environmentally sound way. 
     
     
         46 . The system of  claim 45 , wherein the operations comprise
 receiving input indicating that the second drug has been discarded; and   in response to the received input, removing the second drug container from the medication list.   
     
     
         47 . The system of  claim 46 , wherein the operation of removing the second drug container from the medication list comprises
 depicting a pop of the second drug container from the medication list, and   emitting a sound accompanying the depicted pop.   
     
     
         48 . The system of  claim 38 , wherein the operation of determining the problem comprises determining that the first drug and the second drug are conflicting drugs.
