Abstract
A mop wringer comprises a housing supporting a first roller and a second roller. The first roller is supported by the housing in a first position where the first roller is spaced from the second roller a first distance and in a second position where the first roller is spaced from the second roller a second distance. The second roller is supported on an arm where the arm moves relative to the housing to move the second roller toward and away from the first roller between a third position and a fourth position. A drive mechanism moves the arm between the third position and the fourth position and rotates the roller in the fourth position.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A mop wringer comprising:
a housing supporting a first roller and a second roller, the first roller being supported by the housing in a first position on the housing where the first roller is spaced from the second roller a first distance and a second position on the housing that is spaced from the first position where the first roller is spaced from the second roller a second distance; the second roller being supported on an arm where the arm moves relative to the housing to move the second roller toward and away from the first roller between a third position and a fourth position; a drive mechanism for moving the arm between the third position and the fourth position and for rotating the roller when the arm reaches the fourth position.
2 . The mop wringer of claim 1 wherein the arm is mounted for pivoting movement in the housing.
3 . The mop wringer of claim 1 further including a first gear fixed to the second roller such that the second roller and gear rotate together.
4 . The mop wringer of claim 3 further comprising a rod rotatably mounted in the housing.
5 . The mop wringer of claim 4 wherein a second gear is mounted to the rod for rotation with the rod.
6 . The mop wringer of claim 5 wherein the second gear is positioned opposite to the first gear.
7 . The mop wringer of claim 6 wherein the second gear comprises a cam surface.
8 . The mop wringer of claim 7 wherein the cam surface engages the first gear to move the second roller into engagement with the first roller 20 .
9 . The mop wringer of claim 4 wherein the rod is connected to lever arm.
10 . The mop wringer of claim 9 wherein a spring biases the rod to a first position.
11 . The mop wringer of claim 1 wherein an eccentric cam is mounted to said first roller to adjust the position of the first roller.
12 . The mop wringer of claim 11 further including a knob mounted on the housing to control the position of the cam.
13 . A mop wringer comprising:
a housing supporting a first roller and a second roller, the first roller being supported on an eccentric cam that is rotatable between a first position where the first roller is spaced from the second roller a first distance and a second position where the first roller is spaced from the second roller a second distance; a first end of the second roller being rotatably supported on a first arm and a second end of the second roller being rotatably supported on a second arm where the first arm and the second arm pivot relative to the housing to move the second roller toward and away from the first roller, and a first gear connected to the first end of the second roller and a second gear connected to the second end of the second roller; a drive mechanism for pivoting first arm and the second arm and for rotating the second roller relative to the first arm and the second arm, the drive mechanism comprising a rotating rod operatively connected to a handle and supporting a third gear for engaging the first gear and a fourth gear for engaging said second gear, said third gear supporting a first cam surface and said fourth gear supporting a second cam surface, the first cam surface and the second cam surface moving the second roller toward and away from the first roller upon rotation of the handle.
14 . A mop wringer comprising:
a housing supporting a first roller and a second roller over a bucket; the second roller being supported on an arm where the arm pivots moves relative to the housing to move the second roller toward the first roller between a third position and a fourth position; a drive mechanism for pivoting the arm between the third position and the fourth position and for rotating the roller in the fourth position comprising a first gear fixed to the second roller such that the second roller and gear rotate together and a second gear mounted for rotation on the housing wherein the second gear is positioned opposite to the first gear, rotating said arm in a first direction to move the second roller into engagement with the first roller and to rotate the second roller in a second direction in the fourth position.
15 . The mop wringer of claim 14 wherein said second direction is away from the bucket.
16 . The mop wringer of claim 14 wherein the second gear is mounted on a rod where the rod is connected to a lever arm.
17 . The mop wringer of claim 14 wherein an eccentric cam is mounted to said first roller to adjust the position of the first roller relative to the second roller.
