Abstract

Methods of preparing a proteoliposome comprise the step of contacting a liposome with an effective portion of RalBP1 to create a proteoliposome. RalBP1 is effective for the protection and treatment of mammals and the environment against the accumulation of toxic compounds and prevents accumulation of one or more toxic compounds, reduces the concentration of toxic compounds, and protects against further contamination with one or more toxic compounds.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
. A proteoliposomal composition comprising a liposome, RLIP76 or a portion thereof and a therapeutic agent.

. The proteoliposomal composition of claim 1 , wherein the RLIP76 comprises two ATP binding sites.

. The proteoliposomal composition of claim 1 , wherein the RLIP76 comprises amino acids 1-367 of SEQ ID NO:2.

. The proteoliposomal composition of claim 1 , wherein the RLIP76 comprises amino acids 410-655 of SEQ ID NO:2.

. The proteoliposomal composition of claim 1 , wherein the RLIP76 comprises the amino acid sequence GKKKGK.

. The proteoliposomal composition of claim 1 , wherein the RLIP76 comprises the amino acid sequence GGIKDLSK.

. The proteoliposomal composition of claim 1 , wherein the RLIP76 portion comprises amino acids 1-367 and 410-655 of SEQ ID NO:2.

. The proteoliposomal composition of claim 2 , wherein the first ATP binding site is located in amino acids 1-367 of SEQ ID NO:2 and the second ATP binding site is located in amino acids 410-655 of SEQ ID NO:2.

. The proteoliposomal composition of claim 1 , wherein the RLIP76 comprises a RLIP76 GTPase-activating domain and a Ra1 binding domain.

. The proteoliposomal composition of claim 1 , wherein the therapeutic agent is selected from the group consisting of a drug, protein, gene, antisense therapy and combinations thereof.

. The proteoliposomal composition of claim 1 , wherein the liposome is selected from the group consisting of lectin, glycolipid, phospholipid and combinations thereof.

. The proteoliposomal composition of claim 1 , wherein the proteoliposomal composition is a vehicle for the delivery of the therapeutic agent.

. The proteoliposomal composition of claim 12 , wherein the composition is a vehicle for delivery of the therapeutic agent to the brain.

. A method of delivering a therapeutic agent to a subject comprising administering the proteoliposomal composition of claim 1 to the subject.

. The method of claim 14 , wherein the therapeutic agent is selected from the group consisting of a drug, protein, gene, antisense therapy and combinations thereof.

. The method of claim 14 , wherein the administration step comprises injection.

. The method of claim 14 , wherein the therapeutic agent is RLIP76 or a portion thereof.
