Abstract

A computer-implemented method for use in natural language translation, including, performing in software processes, the steps of: comparing source material with stored material in a first natural language, said stored material having previously been translated from said first natural language to at least a second natural language, identifying at least a ‘part of said source material which has a relationship with at least a part of said stored material, outputting said identified part of source material and said identified part of stored material in a form suitable for review by a user, and replacing said identified part of source material with said identified part of stored material to assist full translation of said source material from said first natural language to at least said second natural language.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

         1 . A method for reusing content from a translation memory comprising:
 receiving a predetermined correlation level, the predetermined correlation level being a user definable minimum percentage for a fuzzy logic match; comparing source material in a first language with stored material in the first language, the stored material being retrieved from a stored database and having previously been translated from the first language to a second language; identifying a part of the source material which has a relationship in the first language with at least a part of the stored material in the first language, the relationship exceeding the predetermined correlation level; and outputting in the first language, the identified part of the source material and the related at least a part of the stored material in a form suitable for review by a user.

         2 . The method of claim 1 wherein the stored database comprises a translation memory.

         3 . The method of claim 2 wherein the translation memory comprises a plurality of stored segment pairs.

         4 . The method of claim 1 wherein the stored database comprises a terminology database.

         5 . The method of claim 1 further comprising dividing the source material into a plurality of source segments.

         6 . The method of claim 1 wherein the outputting further comprises outputting a fuzzy logic match percentage.

         7 . The method of claim 1 wherein the stored database comprises a grammatical and stylistic database.

         8 . The method of claim 7 wherein the identifying further comprises a grammatical and stylistic check.

         9 . The method of claim 1 further comprising producing a report for at least one source material document.

         10 . The method of claim 9 wherein the report comprises at least one of configuration settings, the number of segments and words, the number of identified translation memory matches, the number of identified terminology matches, the number of grammatical and stylistic matches, or the number of forbidden terms identified.

         11 . A system for reusing content from a translation memory comprising:
 a processor configured to execute instructions stored in memory; and a memory, coupled to the processor, the memory comprising instructions executable by the processor to:
 receive a predetermined correlation level, the predetermined correlation level being a user definable minimum percentage for a fuzzy logic match;
 compare source material in a first language with stored material in the first language, the stored material being retrieved from a stored database and having previously been translated from the first language to a second language;
 identify a part of the source material which has a relationship in the first language with at least a part of the stored material in the first language, the relationship exceeding the predetermined correlation level; and
 output in the first language, the identified part of the source material and the related at least a part of the stored material in a form suitable for review by a user.

         12 . The system of claim 11 wherein the stored database comprises a translation memory.

         13 . The system of claim 12 wherein the translation memory comprises a plurality of stored segment pairs.

         14 . The system of claim 11 wherein the stored database comprises a terminology database.

         15 . The system of claim 11 , the memory further comprising instructions executable by the processor to divide the source material into a plurality of source segments.

         16 . The system of claim 11 wherein the instructions executable by the processor to output in the first language further comprise instructions executable by the processor to output a fuzzy logic match percentage.

         17 . The system of claim 11 wherein the stored database comprises a grammatical and stylistic database.

         18 . The system of claim 17 wherein the instructions executable by the processor to identify further comprise instructions executable by the processor to perform a grammatical and stylistic check.

         19 . The system of claim 11 the memory further comprising instructions executable by the processor to produce a report for at least one source material document.

         20 . A non-transitory computer readable storage medium having embodied thereon a program, the program being executable by a processor to perform a method for reusing content from a translation memory, the method comprising:
 receiving a predetermined correlation level, the predetermined correlation level being a user definable minimum percentage for a fuzzy logic match; comparing source material in a first language with stored material in the first language, the stored material being retrieved from a stored database and having previously been translated from the first language to a second language; identifying a part of the source material which has a relationship in the first language with at least a part of the stored material in the first language, the relationship exceeding the predetermined correlation level; and outputting in the first language, the identified part of the source material and the related at least a part of the stored material in a form suitable for review by a user.
