Abstract

The invention is directed to methods for treating nervous system injury and disease, in particular traumatic brain injury and degenerative nervous system disease. Such methods utilize novel compositions, including but not limited to trophic factor-secreting extraembryonic cells (herein referred to as TSE cells), including, but not limited to, amnion-derived multipotent progenitor cells (herein referred to as AMP cells) and conditioned media derived therefrom (herein referred to as amnion-derived cellular cytokine solution or ACCS), each alone or in combination with each other and/or other agents.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 .- 13 . (canceled)

14 . A method for neuroprotecting neuronal cells from neurodegeneration in a patient having a neurodegenerative disease selected from the group consisting of Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, Huntington's disease, Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, Spinal muscular atrophy, Primary Lateral Sclerosis and Progressive Pseudobulbar Palsy, the method comprising the step of administering to the patient a therapeutically effective amount of Amnion-derived Cellular Cytokine Solution (ACCS), wherein the ACCS is administered by infusion or injection.

15 . The method of claim 14 wherein the ACCS is pooled ACCS.

16 . The method of claim 14 wherein the ACCS is administered in combination with another agent.

17 . The method of claim 20 wherein the other agent is selected from the group consisting of a neuroprotective agent, a growth factor, a cytokine, a chemokine, an antibody, an antibiotic, an anti-fungal, and an anti-viral.
