Compositions containing cyclodextrin

Abstract

A stable composition for removing unwanted molecules from a surface comprises functionally-available cyclodextrin, a cyclodextrin-compatible perfume material, and a cyclodextrin-incompatible perfume material. The compositions are suitable for capturing unwanted molecules from inanimate surfaces, including skin, hair, and the like. The compositions can further comprise other cyclodextrin-compatible and -incompatible materials and other optional ingredients.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A composition suitable for capturing unwanted molecules, the composition comprising functionally-available cyclodextrin at a concentration of at least about 0.001% by weight of the composition, a cyclodextrin-incompatible perfume material, and a cyclodextrin-compatible perfume material, wherein the cyclodextrin-incompatible perfume material has a complexation constant with the cyclodextin of greater than 5,000M −1  and the cyclodextrin-compatible perfume material has a complexation constant with the cyclodextin of less than or equal to 5,000M −1 . 
     
     
         2 . A composition according to  claim 1 , wherein the functionally-available cyclodextrin is present in a concentration of at least about 0.01% by weight of the composition. 
     
     
         3 . A composition according to  claim 1 , wherein the functionally-available cyclodextrin is present in a concentration of at least about 0.1% by weight of the composition. 
     
     
         4 . A composition according to  claim 1 , wherein the cyclodextrin-incompatible perfume material has a Clog P value of more than 3.0. 
     
     
         5 . A composition according to  claim 1 , wherein the cyclodextrin-incompatible perfume material has a molecular weight or more than 210. 
     
     
         6 . A composition according to  claim 1 , wherein the cyclodextrin-incompatible perfume material is included at a level of between 0.003% to 2% by weight of the composition. 
     
     
         7 . A composition according to  claim 1 , wherein the cyclodextrin-compatible perfume material has a complexation constant with the cyclodextin of less than or equal to 4,000M −1 . 
     
     
         8 . A composition according to  claim 1 , wherein the cyclodextrin-compatible perfume material has a complexation constant with the cyclodextin of less than or equal to 3,000M −1 . 
     
     
         9 . A composition according to  claim 1 , further comprising quaternary compounds. 
     
     
         10 . A composition according to  claim 9 , further comprising a cyclodextrin-incompatible skin conditioning agent. 
     
     
         11 . A composition according to  claim 1 , further comprising a cyclodextrin-incompatible skin conditioning agent. 
     
     
         12 . A composition according to  claim 1 , wherein the cyclodextrin-incompatible skin conditioning agent is selected from the group comprising emollients, humectants, moisturizers, and mixtures thereof. 
     
     
         13 . A composition suitable for capturing unwanted molecules, the composition comprising functionally-available cyclodextrin at a concentration of at least about 0.001% by weight of the composition, a cyclodextrin-incompatible perfume material, and a cyclodextrin-compatible perfume material, wherein the cyclodextrin-incompatible perfume materials have a complexation constant with the cyclodextin of greater than 5,000M −1  and the cyclodextrin-compatible perfume material has a complexation constant with the cyclodextin of less than or equal to 5,000M −1 , wherein the total cyclodextrin to cyclodextrin-incompatible perfume material weight ratio is from about 2:1 to about 200:1, and the total cyclodextrin to cyclodextrin-compatible perfume material weight ratio is greater than about 8:1. 
     
     
         14 . A composition according to  claim 13 , wherein the functionally-available cyclodextrin is present in a concentration of at least about 0.01% by weight of the composition. 
     
     
         15 . A composition according to  claim 13 , wherein the functionally-available cyclodextrin is present in a concentration of at least about 0.1% by weight of the composition. 
     
     
         16 . A composition according to  claim 13 , wherein the cyclodextrin-incompatible perfume material has a Clog P value of more than 3.0. 
     
     
         16 . A composition according to  claim 13 , wherein the cyclodextrin-incompatible perfume material has a molecular weight or more than 210. 
     
     
         17 . A composition according to  claim 13 , further comprising quaternary compounds. 
     
     
         18 . A composition according to  claim 17 , further comprising a cyclodextrin-incompatible skin conditioning agent. 
     
     
         19 . A composition according to  claim 13 , further comprising a cyclodextrin-incompatible skin conditioning agent. 
     
     
         20 . A composition suitable for capturing unwanted molecules, the composition comprising functionally-available cyclodextrin at a concentration of at least about 0.001% by weight of the composition, a quaternary compound, and a cyclodextrin-compatible perfume material, wherein the cyclodextrin-compatible perfume material has a complexation constant with the cyclodextin of less than or equal to 5,000M −1 .
