Abstract

Ensuring security of electronic transactions between a user and a gaming service provider involves employing three-dimensional transaction authentication based on user-facilitated authentication of a device and user-facilitated authentication of a gaming service provider transaction domain.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A method of three-dimensional transaction authentication based on user authentication of a device and user authentication of a gaming service provider transaction domain, comprising:
 receiving device identification information from a handheld electronic transaction device configured with electronic transaction facility software;   receiving user identification information input to the handheld device;   receiving service provider identification information from a gaming service provider that comprises user authentication information provided by the gaming service provider to the user; and   authenticating an exchange of an electronic replica of a confirmation of a gaming transaction between the gaming service provider and electronic transaction facility software executing on the handheld electronic transaction device by authenticating via separate security protocols each of the user of the handheld device based on the user identification information, the handheld device based on the device identification information, and the gaming service provider based on information provided by the user via the handheld device that confirms the service provider identification information.   
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the transaction is conducted via a secure gaming service provider portal. 
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein authenticating the exchange is performed by a main service facility that has previously registered the handheld electronic transaction device and authenticated the user via the handheld electronic transaction device. 
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein exchange of an electronic replica comprises receiving the electronic replica at a main service facility that performs the authenticating the exchange and transmitting the electronic replica from the main service facility to the electronic transaction facility software. 
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the electronic replica of a confirmation of a gaming transaction comprises an electronic replica of a lottery ticket. 
     
     
         6 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the electronic replica of a confirmation of a gaming transaction comprises an electronic replica of a wager. 
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 6 , wherein the wager is a bet on a live sporting event. 
     
     
         8 . A method of three-dimensional transaction authentication of a live sporting event wager, comprising:
 receiving device identification information from a handheld electronic transaction device configured with electronic transaction facility software;   receiving user identification information input to the handheld device;   receiving gaming service provider identification information from a live sports wagering service provider that comprises user authentication information provided by the live sports wagering service provider to the user; and   authenticating an exchange of an electronic replica of a confirmation of a bet on an outcome of a live sporting event between the live sports wagering service provider and electronic transaction facility software executing on the handheld electronic transaction device by authenticating via separate security protocols each of the user of the handheld device based on the user identification information, the handheld device based on the device identification information, and the live sports wagering service provider based on information provided by the user via the handheld device that confirms the gaming service provider identification information.
