Abstract

Disclosed herein, among other things, is an imaging system for processing educational assessments. According to one embodiment of the present subject matter, educational assessments are received in a paper format and processed from the paper format to an electronic format. A navigation console is provided and adapted to provide a portal and a login interface to a user. Educational assessment documents are scanned and images are generated. The images are passed through applications to derive data from the images, and the data is transferred to peripheral systems, according to various embodiments.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . (canceled)

         2 . A method, comprising:
 receiving educational assessments for a project in a paper format; and processing educational assessments from the paper format to an electronic format using an application, wherein processing includes:
 scanning educational assessment documents as part of a batch processing scanning system and generating images;
 electronically tracking a page of a document that is not successfully scanned by the batch processing scanning system;
 sending the page for manual scanning;
 electronically preventing the document from being further processed while awaiting manual scanning; and
 electronically placing the manually scanned page with the document using electronic tracking,
 wherein more than one project can be run simultaneously on the application and more than one instance of the application can be run at a time.

         3 . The method of  claim 2 , comprising:
 electronically tracking separate typewritten response pages.

         4 . The method of claim 3 , wherein tracking includes associating with an item using a table in a database

         5 . The method of claim 2 , wherein processing education assessments further includes providing support applications for managing the processing.

         6 . The method of claim 5 , wherein providing support applications includes providing a project setup application, an image field definition application, a calibration facilitator application, and a priority manager application.

         7 . The method of claim 5 , wherein providing support applications includes providing a tracking tool application.

         8 . The method of claim 5 , wherein providing support applications includes providing at least one support application for exception handling.

         9 . The method of claim 2 , further comprising storing the images in a database.

         10 . The method of claim 2 , wherein receiving education assessments includes receiving standardized test answer sheets.

         11 . The method of claim 2 , wherein receiving education assessments includes receiving survey response forms.

         12 . A method, comprising:
 receiving educational assessments for a project in a paper format; and processing educational assessments from the paper format to an electronic format using an application, wherein processing includes:
 scanning educational assessment documents as part of a batch processing scanning system and generating images;
 electronically identifying scanner errors; and
 electronically resolving scanner read errors, page identification errors, and batch data errors,
 wherein more than one project can be run simultaneously on the application and more than one instance of the application can be run at a time.

         13 . The method of claim 12 , further comprising:
 certifying that no image related errors remain in the batch.

         14 . The method of claim 12 , wherein identifying scanner errors includes identifying missing images.

         15 . The method of claim 12 , wherein identifying scanner errors includes identifying improperly collated pages.

         16 . The method of claim 12 , wherein electronically resolving includes electronically resolving without rescanning documents.

         17 . The method of claim 12 , further comprising storing the images in a database.

         18 . The method of claim 12 , wherein scanning documents includes scanning using an electronic scanner.

         19 . The method of claim 18 , wherein scanning using an electronic scanner includes scanning using an IBML scanner.

         20 . The method of claim 12 , wherein receiving education assessments includes receiving standardized test answer sheets.

         21 . The method of claim 12 , wherein receiving education assessments includes receiving survey response forms.
