Claims
Abstract
Novel formulations containing a non-oxidative biocide, such as DBNPA, and a source of an in situ produced active biocide, such as a concentrated aqueous solution of an inorganic halide salt, are disclosed. These novel formulations are particularly effective in the treatment of water, and are characterized by high stability, desirable rheological properties and an excellent biocidal activity.

14 . A liquid formulation comprising at least one non-oxidative biocide, a concentrated aqueous solution of an inorganic halide salt, and a polyethylene glycol having an average molecular weight higher than 100 grams/mol.
15 . The formulation of claim 14 , wherein said halide salt produces an active halogen upon activation by an oxidizer.
16 . The formulation of claim 14 , wherein said oxidizer is selected from the group consisting of chlorine, bromine, hypochlorite salt, hypochlorous acid, hypobromite salt, hypobromous acid a halogenated hydantoin, a halogenated isocyanurate, a peroxide and a persulfate.
17 . The formulation of claim 14 , wherein an amount of said polyalkylene glyocol is lower than 50 weight percents of the total weight of the formulation.

54 . The formulation of claim 14 wherein the nonoxidative biocide is bronopol.
55 . A liquid formulation comprising at least one non-oxidative biocide, to concentrated aqueous solution of an inorganic halide salt, and an organic solvent.
56 . The liquid formulation of claim 55 wherein said halide salt produces an active halogen upon activation by an oxidizer.
57 . The liquid formulation of claim 55 wherein said oxidizer is selected from the group consisting of chlorine, bromine, hypochlorite salt, hypochlorous acid, hypobromite salt, hypobromous acid a halogenated hydantoin, a halogenated isocyanurate, a peroxide and a persulfate.
58 . The liquid formulation of claim 55 wherein the organic solvent is a glycol.
59 . The liquid formulation of claim 58 wherein the glycol is a polyalkylene glycol.
60 . The liquid formulation of claim 59 , wherein the polyalkylene glycol is a polyethylene glycol.
61 . The liquid formulation of claim 55 , wherein the amount of organic solvent is lower than 50 weight percent.
62 . The liquid formulation of claim 55 wherein the amount of organic solvent is lower than 30 weight percent.
63 . The liquid formulation of claim 55 wherein the non-oxidative biocide is bronopol.
64 . The liquid formulation of claim 63 , wherein the amount of organic solvent is lower than 50 weight percent.
