Methods for initiating an electronic shopping transaction, for initiating a control operation for a user-selectable video game character, for emphasizing an advertisement in a computer generated display, and for presenting multiple GUIs in desktop user interfaces using detail-in-context graphical distortions. The method for initiating an electronic shopping transaction, for a user-selectable item presented in a computer generated original image on a display, comprising: receiving a selection signal for the item from a user; distorting the original image to produce a distorted region for the item to provide the user with detailed information for the item; and, receiving a purchase signal for the item from the user.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A method comprising:
attaching a lens to an object in an image, wherein:
the lens includes an extent of the lens, a focal region including a magnification of at least a portion of the object, and a shoulder region between the extent of the lens and the focal region, and
the shoulder region provides context for the focal region with respect to a portion of the image outside of the extent of the lens by preserving visibility of portions of the image surrounding the focal region; and
in response to the attaching, displaying information corresponding to the object.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the image is in a video game.

3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the information comprises an advertisement.

4 . The method of claim 3 , further comprising changing the advertisement as game-flow in the video game progresses.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the information comprises an advertisement.

6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the information comprises information associated with purchasing the object.

7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the displaying further comprises displaying the information corresponding to the object in a pop-up window.

8 . An apparatus for arranging a menu for display in an image, wherein the apparatus comprises:
one or more processors together with one or more memories configured to: attach a lens to an object in an image, wherein:
the lens includes an extent of the lens, a focal region including a magnification of at least a portion of the object, and a shoulder region between the extent of the lens and the focal region, and
the shoulder region provides context for the focal region with respect to a portion of the image outside of the extent of the lens by preserving visibility of portions of the image surrounding the focal region; and
in response to attaching the lens to the object in the image, display information corresponding to the object.

9 . The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the image is in a video game.

10 . The apparatus of claim 9 , wherein the information comprises an advertisement.

11 . The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the one or more processors together with the one or more memories are further configured to change the advertisement as game-flow in the video game progresses.

12 . The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the information comprises an advertisement.

13 . The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the information comprises information associated with purchasing the object.

14 . The apparatus of claim 8 , wherein the displaying further comprises displaying the information corresponding to the object in a pop-up window.

15 . At least one computer-readable device including a set of instructions for execution on one or more processors, wherein the set of instructions comprises:
attachment instructions for attaching a lens to an object in an image, wherein:
the lens includes an extent of the lens, a focal region including a magnification of at least a portion of the object, and a shoulder region between the extent of the lens and the focal region, and
the shoulder region provides context for the focal region with respect to a portion of the image outside of the extent of the lens by preserving visibility of portions of the image surrounding the focal region; and
displaying instructions for, in response to the attaching, displaying information corresponding to the object.

16 . The at least one computer-readable device of claim 15 , wherein the image is in a video game.

17 . The at least one computer-readable device of claim 16 , wherein the information comprises an advertisement.

18 . The at least one computer-readable device of claim 17 , wherein the set of instructions further comprise changing instructions for changing the advertisement as game-flow in the video game progresses.

19 . The at least one computer-readable device of claim 15 , wherein the information comprises an advertisement.

20 . The at least one computer-readable device of claim 15 , wherein the displaying further comprises displaying the information corresponding to the object in a pop-up window.
