Methods for treating cognitive disorders

Abstract

Disclosed herein are methods of treating a patient suffering a cognitive disorder.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A method for treating a cognitive disorder, the method comprising administering to a patient in need of such treatment a compound selected from the group consisting of structures (i) and (ii): 
       
         
           
           
               
               
           
         
       
       wherein R 4  is H, alkyl of 1 to 6 carbons or CO—R 5  wherein R 5  is alkyl of 1 to 6 carbons, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt of said compound. 
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein R 4  is H. 
     
     
         3 . A method for treating a cognitive disorder, the method comprising administering to a patient in need of such treatment a compound of the following structure: 
       
         
           
           
               
               
           
         
       
       or any other pharmaceutically acceptable salt of said compound. 
     
     
         4 . A method for treating a cognitive disorder, the method comprising administering to a patient in need of such treatment a compound of the following structure: 
       
         
           
           
               
               
           
         
       
       wherein R 4  is H, alkyl of 1 to 6 carbons or CO—R 5  wherein R 5  is alkyl of 1 to 6 carbons or any other pharmaceutically acceptable salt of said compound. 
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 4 , wherein R 4  is H. 
     
     
         6 . A method for treating a cognitive disorder, the method comprising administering to a patient in need of such treatment a compound selected from the group consisting of structures (i) and (ii): 
       
         
           
           
               
               
           
         
       
       wherein R 4  is H, alkyl of 1 to 6 carbons or CO—R 5  wherein R 5  is alkyl of 1 to 6 carbons or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt of said compound. 
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 6 , wherein R 4  is H. 
     
     
         8 . A method for treating a cognitive disorder, the method comprising administering to a patient in need of such treatment a compound of the following structure: 
       
         
           
           
               
               
           
         
       
       wherein R 4  is H, alkyl of 1 to 6 carbons or CO—R 5  wherein R 5  is alkyl of 1 to 6 carbons or any other pharmaceutically acceptable salt of said compound. 
     
     
         9 . The method of  claim 8 , wherein R 4  is H.
