Nutritional supplement compositions

Abstract

Dietary supplement compositions containing one or more compounds such as arginine, selenium, calcium, calcium sources, morphine precursors (e.g., reticuline), morphine, and morphine-6β-glucuronide are provided.

         21 . A dietary supplement composition comprising a morphine precursor in an amount that results in between about 0.1 mg/kg and about 25 mg/kg of said morphine precursor being administered to a human per kg of body weight of said human, wherein said composition further comprises L-arginine, selenium, and calcium source, wherein said morphine precursor is selected from the group consisting of tyrosine, tyramine, dopamine, L-DOPA, 3,4 dihydroxyphenyl pyruvate, dihydroxyphenyl acetaldehyde, phenylalanine, reticuline, norlaudanosoline, salutaridine, thebaine, and codeine. 
     
     
         22 . The composition of  claim 21 , wherein said composition comprises said morphine precursor in an amount that results in between about 1 mg/kg and about 5 mg/kg of said morphine precursor being administered to a human per kg of body weight of said human. 
     
     
         23 . The composition of  claim 21 , wherein said composition comprises between 1 mg and 10 mg of said morphine precursor. 
     
     
         24 . The composition of  claim 21 , wherein said morphine precursor is reticuline. 
     
     
         25 . The composition of  claim 21 , wherein said morphine precursor is thebaine. 
     
     
         26 . The composition of  claim 21 , wherein said morphine precursor is L-DOPA. 
     
     
         27 . The composition of  claim 21 , wherein said composition comprises two morphine precursors selected from said group. 
     
     
         28 . The composition of  claim 21 , wherein administration of said composition to said human induces cells within said human to release nitric oxide. 
     
     
         29 . The composition of  claim 21 , wherein administration of said composition to said human results in the production of a detectable amount of morphine within a tissue sample. 
     
     
         30 . The composition of  claim 21 , wherein said calcium source is calcium citrate. 
     
     
         31 . The composition of  claim 21 , wherein said calcium source is CaCO 3 . 
     
     
         32 . The composition of  claim 21 , wherein said composition comprises from 1 mg to 500 mg of said L-arginine. 
     
     
         33 . The composition of  claim 21 , wherein said composition comprises from 55 μg to 200 μg of said selenium. 
     
     
         34 . The composition of  claim 21 , wherein said composition comprises from 1000 to 1300 mg of said calcium source. 
     
     
         35 . The composition of  claim 21 , wherein said composition is in the form of a tablet.
