Abstract

Word games played so that they can result in a score for a player, a non-acting player; in certain aspects, word games with an element of chance so that a non-acting player can score and/or win against other players and, in certain aspects, a score awarded to a non-acting player based, in whole or in part, on chance.

         51 . A game of producing words, the game comprising,
 a game system for multiple players to play the game, and   the game system comprising at least one designator for each player so that, in playing the game, a produced word produced by a first player results in a first score for the first player and can result in a second score for a second player who does not produce the word.   
     
     
         52 . The game of  claim 51  wherein the amount of the second score is determined by taking a percentage of the first score awarded to the first player, the percentage determined by one of game rules, a pre-game agreement, and by chance. 
     
     
         53 . A method for playing a word game comprising
 a first player takes a turn producing a first word, the first player producing the first word using lettered game pieces,   the lettered game pieces having indicia thereon indicating either the first player or a second player, a plurality of lettered game pieces indicating the first player and a plurality of lettered game pieces indicating the second player,   the produced word produced by the first player in the first player's turn including at least one lettered game piece indicating the second player,   the first player receiving a first score for producing the word, and   the second player receiving a second score based on the first word containing at least one lettered game piece indicating the second player.   
     
     
         54 . The method of  claim 53  wherein producing the first word is one of finding the first word and making the first word by spelling the first word with lettered game pieces. 
     
     
         55 . The method of  claim 53  further comprising
 requiring an acting player whose turn it is to produce a word to use at least one designator of a non-acting player so that the non-acting player receives an additional score. 
 
     
     
         56 . The method of  claim 53  the lettered game pieces are one of die, tile, card, and electronic game piece. 
     
     
         57 . The method of  claim 53  wherein the amount of the second score is determined by taking a percentage of the first score awarded to the first player, the percentage determined by one of game rules, a pre-game agreement, and by chance. 
     
     
         58 . The method of  claim 53  wherein the method is effected electronically. 
     
     
         59 . The method of  claim 53  wherein the method is effected over the Internet. 
     
     
         60 . A method for playing a game comprising
 a first acting player producing a word at a game location, the word including at least one letter,   the word including at least one designator of a non-acting second player, the first acting player using a designator of the second non-acting player in producing the word,   the first acting player receiving a word score for producing the word,   the second non-acting player receiving a designator score based on use by the first acting player of the at least one designator of the non-acting second player used by the first acting player in producing the word.   
     
     
         61 . The method of  claim 60  wherein the at least one designator of the non-acting player is not revealed until the word has been produced and finalized. 
     
     
         62 . The method of  claim 60  wherein the designator of the second non-acting player used in the word produced by the first acting player is a designator of a game location. 
     
     
         63 . The method of  claim 60  wherein the word score is one of greater than the designator score; less than the designator score; and the same as the designator score. 
     
     
         64 . The method of  claim 60  wherein the designator score is determined by chance. 
     
     
         65 . The method of  claim 60  wherein the designator score has a point value and the point value is determined by using a die or dice as determined by one of the following:
 a die is rolled and shows a die face with a numeral thereon and the value of the numeral is the point value of the designator score; 
 a die is rolled and shows a die face with a numeral thereon and the value of the designator score is the value of the word score times the numeral value of the numeral; 
 two dice is rolled and a face of each die shows on a die face a numeral and the combined value of the two numerals is the point value of the designator score; and 
 two dice are rolled and each shows a die face with a numeral thereon and the value of the designator score is the value of the word score times the combined numeral value of the two numerals. 
 
     
     
         66 . The method of  claim 60  wherein the game is an improved version of an existing word game, the existing word game being one of SCRABBLE (Trademark) game, BOGGLE (Trademark) game, and BANANAGRAMS (Trademark) game. 
     
     
         67 . The method of  claim 60  wherein the amount of the designator score is determined by taking a percentage of the word score awarded to the first player, the percentage determined by one of game rules, a pre-game agreement, and by chance. 
     
     
         68 . The method of  claim 60  wherein the method is effected electronically. 
     
     
         69 . The method of  claim 60  wherein the method is effected over the Internet.
