Abstract
The compositions and methods of this invention relate to a leave-on skin care composition containing hydrophobic, linear cellulose particles having an average length of from about 1 to about 500 μm, a particle aspect ratio from about 2 to about 25 and an average thickness of from about 1 to about 500 μm; and a cosmetically acceptable carrier.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A leave-on skin care composition, comprising: hydrophobic, linear cellulose particles having an average length of from about 1 to about 500 μm, a particle aspect ratio from about 2 to about 25 and a thickness of from about 1 to about 500 μm; and a cosmetically acceptable carrier.
. A leave-on skin care composition according to claim 1 wherein said hydrophobic, linear cellulose particles have an oil absorption capacity and retention of from about 150 to about 500% weight oil/weight particles.
. A leave-on skin care composition according to claim 2 wherein said oil absorption capacity and retention of said hydrophobic, linear cellulose particles is from about 300 to about 500% weight oil/weight particles.
. A leave-on skin care composition according to claim 1 wherein the water contact angle of said hydrophobic, linear cellulose particles is greater than about 90 degrees.
. A leave-on skin care composition according to claim 4 wherein said water contact angle is greater than about 100 degrees.
. A leave-on skin care composition according to claim 4 wherein said water contact angle is greater than about 120 degrees.
. A leave-on skin care composition according to claim 1 wherein said hydrophobic, linear cellulose particles are derived from cotton.
. A leave-on skin care composition according to claim 7 wherein said hydrophobic, linear cellulose particles are regenerated cotton particles.
. A leave-on skin care composition according to claim 1 wherein said hydrophobic, linear cellulose particles are rayon particles.
. A leave-on skin care composition according to claim 1 wherein said hydrophobic, linear cellulose particles are coated with a hydrophobic agent selected from the group consisting of metal soap, organic wax, synthetic wax, long-chain fatty acids, long-chain fatty esters, non-water soluble polymers, high molecular water-insoluble fluoropolymers and polymerized siloxanes.
. A leave-on skin care composition according to claim 1 wherein said composition further comprises an aqueous solvent.
. A leave-on skin care composition according to claim 1 wherein said composition further comprises at least one emollient.
. A leave-on skin care composition according to claim 1 wherein the size of said hydrophobic linear cellulose particles is from about 2 to about 300 μm.
. (canceled)
. A leave-on skin care composition according to claim 1 wherein said composition comprises from about 1 to about 20 percent by weight of said hydrophobic, linear cellulose particles.
. A leave-on skin care composition according to claim 1 wherein said composition comprises from about 1 to about 10 percent by weight of said hydrophobic, linear cellulose particles.
. A leave-on skin care composition according to claim 1 wherein said composition comprises from about 1 to about 6 percent by weight of said hydrophobic, linear cellulose particles.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
