Abstract
Embodiments relate to a film used to form a flexible bag including an inner sealant layer capable of providing a hermetic seal; an oxygen barrier layer capable of extending the shelf life of a food product; and an outer layer capable of providing abrasion and puncture resistance and tacking to the specialized tacky polymer strip mounted on the dispensing device.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 - 29 . (canceled)
30 . A dispenser adapted to receive a flexible bag and dispense a product, the dispenser comprising:
a housing having a first wall and a second wall hingedly connected to the first wall and defining a chamber having a first end and a second end; a handle located proximate the chamber first end and having a trigger and a reversely biased actuating device; a segmented piston positioned in the chamber and actionably coupled to at least the handle; and an end cap adapted to be removably, rotatably received by the housing proximate the second end, the end cap defining at least one opening adapted to allow flow in only one direction, wherein the handle and segmented piston act in concert, such that upon completion of dispensing a predetermined amount of product, relieves any residual pressure on the flexible bag, preventing product weeping.
31 . The dispenser of claim 30 wherein the end cap defines at least one outlet therein allowing product to pass there through.
32 . The dispenser of claim 31 further comprising the outlet having a valve fitment that allows product to pass there though only upon application of pressure.
33 . The dispenser of claim 31 further comprising the outlet having a predetermined shape that allows product to pass there though only upon application of pressure.
34 . A method for dispensing a product using a dispenser adapted to receive a flexible bag comprising:
the dispenser comprising:
a housing having a first wall and a second wall hingedly connected to the first wall and defining a chamber having a first end and a second end;
a handle located proximate the chamber first end and having a trigger and a reversely biased actuating device;
a segmented piston positioned in the chamber and actionably coupled to at least the handle; and
an end cap adapted to be removably, rotatably received by the housing proximate the second end, the end cap defining at least one opening adapted to allow flow in only one direction;
the flexible bag formed from a film comprising:
at least one layer adapted to be folded upon itself without cracking, the at least one layer comprising:
a first edge and a second edge;
a first surface, the first surface having a static coefficient of friction less than 0.5;
a second surface opposite the first surface, the second surface having a static coefficient of friction greater than 0.5; and
wherein the at least one layer is joined along at least the first edge, forming the flexible bag and the second end is scored defining a tearing direction that allows the flexible bag to be torn open only along the tearing direction.
the method comprising:
removing the end cap;
moving the second wall away from the first wall, opening the dispenser and exposing at least the chamber;
positioning the flexible bag in the chamber such that at least the tear strip extends from the dispenser;
moving the second wall towards the first wall, closing the dispenser; placing the end cap on the dispenser; opening the tear strip in the tearing direction; and dispensing of the product and preventing the product from leaking into the chamber.
35 . The dispenser of claim 30 further comprising a locating device for aligning the flexible bag in the chamber.
36 . The dispenser of claim 35 wherein the locating device is positioned proximate the second end.
37 . The dispenser of claim 35 wherein the locating device is positioned proximate the first end.
38 . The dispenser of claim 35 wherein the locating device is selected from the group comprising lugs and pins.
39 . The dispenser of claim 31 wherein the valve fitment comprises a device for selective actuation of the valve responsive to actuation of the pump.
40 . The dispenser of claim 31 wherein the reversely biased actuating device is selected from the group comprising a spring and a biasing device.
41 . A dispenser adapted to receive a flexible bag and dispense a product, the dispenser comprising:
a housing having a first wall and a second wall hingedly connected to the first wall and defining a chamber having a first end and a second end; a handle located proximate the chamber first end and having a trigger and a reversely biased actuating device; a segmented piston positioned in the chamber and actionably coupled to at least the actuating device; a locating device for aligning the flexible bag in the chamber; and an end cap adapted to be removably, rotatably received by the housing proximate the second end, the end cap defining at least one opening adapted to allow flow in only one direction, wherein the handle and segmented piston act in concert, such that upon completion of dispensing a predetermined amount of product, relieves any residual pressure on the flexible bag, preventing product weeping.
42 . The dispenser of claim 41 wherein the locating device is positioned proximate the second end.
43 . The dispenser of claim 41 wherein the locating device is positioned proximate the first end.
44 . The dispenser of claim 41 wherein the locating device is selected from the group comprising lugs and pins.
45 . The dispenser of claim 41 wherein the valve fitment comprises a device for selective actuation of the valve responsive to actuation of the pump.
46 . The dispenser of claim 41 wherein the reversely biased actuating device is selected from the group comprising a spring and a biasing device.
47 . The method of claim 34 wherein dispensing of the product and preventing the product from leaking into the chamber includes the handle and segmented piston acting in concert.
48 . The method of claim 47 wherein dispensing of the product and preventing the product from leaking into the chamber comprises a reversely biased actuating device relieving any residual pressure on the flexible bag, preventing product weeping.Cited by (0)
