Abstract

A composition for chemical soil improvement includes a synthetic fluid or base oil, a pour point depressant, polyisobutylene, and synthetic fibers, and various combinations thereof used with in situ slag.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

1 . A method for soil improvement, the method comprising the steps of:
 adding to in situ slag
a mixture of a synthetic fluid, a binder, and a pour point depressant, wherein the synthetic fluid is about 80% to about 95% by weight of the mixture, the binder is about 5% to about 20% by weight of the mixture, and the pour point depressant is about 0.1% to about 0.9% by weight of the mixture; and,
synthetic fibers, wherein the mixture is about 5% by weight after addition to the slag and the fibers are about 0.3% to about 0.5% by weight after addition to the slag.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the fibers are about 0.1% to about 5% by weight of the combined fibers and mixture.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the mixture provides waterproofing to the slag, protects against freeze thaw and frost heave, and allows the slag to bind.

4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the fibers are adding to the slag in multiple lifts, wherein the fibers are dispersed substantially uniformly through mechanical means, wherein the mixture is applied along with the fibers in the final lift.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the mixture is applied as a sub-base to the slag and a surface course is applied on top of the sub-base, wherein the surface course is a combination of the mixture and the fibers.
