Abstract
This patent describes a system and/or a method that facilitates ensuring reliability in an online transaction. An interference component can receive data related to at least one user involved with an online transaction associated with commerce. An evaluation component can generate a reputation associated with the user based on at least one online activity and can employ a pre-determined handshake period for at least one of a feedback on the online transaction or an acknowledgement of a portion of the online transaction.

evaluating data related to a portion of the online transaction; ascertaining a reputation assessment based at least in part upon the evaluation; utilizing the reputation assessment in connection with an involvement in the online transaction associated with commerce; and forming a consensus on the reputation assessment for a disparate user, client, or entity via a community network.
28 . The media of claim 27 , the reputation assessment is ascertained based at least in part upon evaluating at least one a transaction, a portion of a transaction, a current online activity, a previous online activity, a previous transaction, a previous online transaction, an activity across a disparate network, an activity within a network, a verification of a credit card, a membership, a duration of membership, a communication associated with a network, a buddy list, a contact, a response to a question, a question posted, a response time to a question, blog data, a blog entry, an endorsement, an item bought, an item sold, a service bought, a service sold, a product on a network, a portion of information gleaned from a disparate website, a portion of information gleaned from a disparate network, a rating from a website, a profile, a portion of user information from a website, a positive factor from a disparate service, a positive factor from a disparate network, a credit score, a handshake rating, a handshake factor, or a donation to a charity.

30 . The media method of claim 27 , further comprising appealing a portion of negativity related to the reputation assessment.
31 . The media of claim 27 , further comprising inferring one or more states of the user, the client, or the entity via a probability distribution over the states.

33 . The media of claim 27 , wherein the reputation assessment receives an increase for positive data detected and a decrease for negative data detected.
34 . The media of claim 27 , wherein the online transaction includes a portion of the transaction that occurs outside of the Internet, the portion of the transaction is at least one of an on-site item, an on-site service, a physical appearance, a service arrangement, or an in-person transaction.
35 . The media of claim 30 , wherein the appeal enables mitigating a negative portion related to the reputation assessment and the mitigation of the negative portion related to the reputation assessment is based upon at least one of a corrective action, an attempt to correct a defect, an attempt to correct a problem with a transaction, or a positive action to correct an error related to a portion of the transaction.
