Abstract

Systems and methods for promoting user generation of content are disclosed. More particularly, embodiments of systems and methods to facilitate the generation of content by users are disclosed. Specifically, in one embodiment, in order to drive generation of desired content, the generation of content by a user may be linked to an opportunity to generate additional content (where the two types of content may be the same or different). In particular, in certain embodiments when a user has generated a first type of content the opportunity to generate a second type of content may be presented to that user.

         2 . A method, comprising:
 receiving, at a computer system, initial user-generated content relating to a particular product, wherein the initial user-generated content corresponds to an opinion of the particular product that was entered at a particular web site;   selecting two or more content generation opportunities related to one or more additional products, wherein the selecting is at least partially based on the initial user-generated content relating to the particular product;   arranging the two or more content generation opportunities in a particular order, wherein the arranging is at least partially based on the initial user-generated content to the particular product; and   generating, by the computer system, information configured to cause the two or more content generation opportunities to be presented at the particular web site in the particular order.   
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 2 , wherein the initial user-generated content includes at least one initial user input corresponding to an initial content generating opportunity, and wherein the selecting includes an identification of the initial content generating opportunity. 
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 3 , further comprising:
 excluding, from the two or more content generation opportunities, the initial content generating opportunity.   
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 3 , wherein the selecting further includes selecting another content generating opportunity that is different from the initial content generating opportunity. 
     
     
         6 . The method of  claim 2 , wherein the arranging includes determining a quantity of user-generated content corresponding to a particular content generation opportunity. 
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 2 , wherein the one or more additional products includes the particular product. 
     
     
         8 . The method of  claim 2 , further comprising:
 determining, relative to the initial user-generated content, a temporal relationship of at least one of the two or more content generation opportunities, and   based on the temporal relationship, arranging the two or more content generation opportunities in the particular order.   
     
     
         9 . The method of  claim 2 , further comprising:
 at least partially based on the initial user-generated content, determining a particular user type; and   selecting the two or more content generation opportunities for the particular user type.   
     
     
         10 . The method of  claim 9 , wherein the particular user type includes an expert. 
     
     
         11 . A system, comprising:
 one or more processors; and memory coupled to the one or more processors, wherein the memory stores instructions that are executable by the system to cause the system to:   receive, at the system, user-generated content relating to a particular product, wherein the user-generated content corresponds to an opinion of the particular product that was entered at a particular web site;   select two or more content generation opportunities related to one or more other products, wherein the selecting is at least partially based on the user-generated content relating to the particular product;   arrange the two or more content generation opportunities in a particular order, wherein the arranging is at least partially based on the user-generated content related to the particular product; and   generate information configured to cause the two or more content generation opportunities to be presented at the particular web site in the particular order.   
     
     
         12 . The system of  claim 11 , wherein the initial user-generated content includes at least one initial user input corresponding to an initial content generating opportunity, and wherein the selecting includes an identification of the initial content generating opportunity. 
     
     
         13 . The system of  claim 12 , wherein the memory stores instructions that are executable by the system to cause the system to exclude, from the two or more content generation opportunities, the initial content generating opportunity. 
     
     
         14 . The system of  claim 11 , wherein the arranging includes determining a quantity of user-generated content corresponding to a particular content generation opportunity. 
     
     
         15 . The system of  claim 11 , wherein the particular product is a good or a category of goods. 
     
     
         16 . An article of manufacture comprising a computer-readable medium having stored thereon instructions executable by a computer system to cause the computer system to perform operations comprising:
 receiving, at a computer system, user-generated content relating to a particular product, wherein the user-generated content corresponds to an opinion of the particular product that was entered at a particular web site;   selecting two or more content generation opportunities related to one or more other products, wherein the selecting is at least partially based on the user-generated content relating to the particular product;   arranging the two or more content generation opportunities in a particular order, wherein the arranging is at least partially based on the user-generated content related to the particular product; and   generating, by the computer system, information configured to cause the two or more content generation opportunities to be presented at the particular web site in the particular order.   
     
     
         17 . The article of manufacture of  claim 16 , wherein the initial user-generated content includes at least one initial user input corresponding to an initial content generating opportunity, and wherein the selecting includes an identification of the initial content generating opportunity. 
     
     
         18 . The article of manufacture of  claim 16 , wherein the operations further comprising:
 determining, relative to the initial user-generated content, a temporal relationship of at least one of the two or more content generation opportunities, and   based on the temporal relationship, arranging the two or more content generation opportunities in the particular order.   
     
     
         19 . The article of manufacture of  claim 16 , wherein the operations further comprising:
 at least partially based on the initial user-generated content, determining a particular user type; and   selecting the two or more content generation opportunities for the particular user type.   
     
     
         20 . The article of manufacture of  claim 16 , wherein the initial content generating opportunity includes an initial question. 
     
     
         21 . The article of manufacture of  claim 16 , wherein the particular product is a good or a category of goods.
