Abstract

The invention provides a material for packaging of electronic components comprising a structured layer, wherein said structured layer comprises a mesh of cells, each cell comprising an electrically conductive rim and an electrically non conductive interior, said cells being interconnected so that any two adjacent cells share at least a portion of their respective rims.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

1 . A material for packaging of electronic components comprising a plurality of electrically conductive meandered rims meeting at a plurality of nodes, each meandered rim extending between two nodes such that a width of an amplitude of the meandered rim increases from one of the two nodes to a maximum and then decreases toward the other of the two nodes.

2 . The material of claim 1 , wherein the meandered rims in the plurality of meandered rims have a same length.

3 . The material of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of meandered rims form a regular pattern.

4 . The material of claim 1 , wherein more than two meandered rims meet at each node.

5 . The material of claim 1 , wherein three meandered rims meet at each node.

6 . The material of claim 1 , wherein four meandered rims meet at each node.

7 . The material of claim 1 , wherein at least one meandered rim comprises an electrically conductive branch extending thereform.

8 . The material of claim 1 , wherein the meandered rims in the plurality of meandered rims comprise at least one of a metal, a semiconductor and an electrically conductive plastic.

9 . The material of claim 1 , wherein each meandered rim extends between two nodes such that the width of the amplitude of the meandered rim increases from one of the two nodes to the maximum and then decreases toward the other of the two nodes, the maximum width being substantially a half way point between the two nodes.

10 . The material of claim 1 , wherein each meandered rim has substantially a same width along a length of the rim.

11 . The material of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of nodes are arranged in a regular pattern of triangles.

12 . The material of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of nodes are arranged in a regular pattern of squares.

13 . The material claim 1 having a damping rate of less than 5 dB for radio frequencies between 700 and 1000 MHz and a damping rate of greater than 15 dB for radio frequencies between 0.3 and 500 MHz.
