Abstract

In a first aspect, a method for use in a time lapse, marine seismic survey includes accessing a set of acquired, multicomponent seismic data; and interpolating a set of time lapse seismic data from the acquired seismic data. In other aspects, a program storage medium is encoded with instructions that, when executed by a computing device, perform the above method and a computing apparatus programmed to perform one or more of such methods.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed:

1 . A method for processing seismic data, comprising:
accessing a first set of seismic data that had been acquired in a first marine survey; and interpolating or extrapolating a second set of seismic data relating to a second marine survey from the first set of seismic data, wherein the first marine survey is positioned at an offset from the second marine survey.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the second marine survey occurs earlier in time than the first marine survey.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first marine survey occurs earlier in time than the second marine survey.

4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first set or the second set of seismic data comprises time lapse seismic data.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the first set of seismic data comprises multicomponent data.

6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein interpolating or extrapolating the second set of seismic data comprises attenuating noise in the second set of seismic data.
