Air freshener clip with head

Abstract

An air freshener has a head with a face. A clip is coupled to the head opposite the face and extends from the head perpendicularly, and includes a pair of vent rods. A pair of bodies is each coupled to a different one of the vent rods. A scent material is interspersed within the bodies, and is capable of diffusing out of the bodies to surrounding air.

1 . An air freshener device, comprising:
 a) a head having a face;   b) a clip coupled to the head opposite the face and extending from the head perpendicularly, and sized and shaped to be inserted into a vehicle air vent and clipped to a vehicle air vent cover such that the head is adjacent the vehicle air vent, and including a pair of vent rods extending from the head and sized and shaped to be inserted into the vehicle air vent and having a plurality of protrusions;   c) a pair of bodies having a plurality of apertures, each of the bodies coupled to a different one of the pair of vent rods via coupling of the plurality of apertures with the plurality of protrusions, and insertable into the vehicle air vent with the pair of vent rods; and   d) a scent material, interspersed within the pair of bodies, capable of diffusing out of the pair of bodies to surrounding air.   
     
     
         2 . The air freshener device in accordance with  claim 1 , wherein the face is a domed face and is exposed. 
     
     
         3 . The air freshener device in accordance with  claim 1 , wherein the pair of bodies are separate from the head. 
     
     
         4 . The air freshener device in accordance with  claim 1 , wherein the head has a fixed configuration oriented perpendicular to longitudinal axes of the pair of vent rods. 
     
     
         5 . The air freshener device in accordance with  claim 1 , wherein the head is larger than a cross-section of the pair of vent rods and the pair of bodies with the pair of vent rods and the pair of bodies disposed behind the head with respect to the face. 
     
     
         6 . The air freshener device in accordance with  claim 1 , wherein the clip, the pair of bodies, or both have a shape corresponding to a scent of the scent material. 
     
     
         7 . The air freshener device in accordance with  claim 1 , wherein the elastomeric polymer is selected from the group consisting of polyurethane, polyacrylate, polybutadiene, ethylene propylene elastomer, silicone, natural rubber, synthetic rubber, styrene/butadiene block copolymer, polyvinylchloride, ethylene vinyl acetate, polypropylene, ethylene/methacrylic acid copolymer, and mixtures thereof. 
     
     
         8 . The air freshener device in accordance with  claim 7 , wherein the elastomeric polymer is selected from the group consisting of polyurethane, polyurethane gel, polyacrylate, polybutadiene, ethylene propylene elastomer, styrene/butadiene block copolymer, and mixtures thereof. 
     
     
         9 . The air freshener device in accordance with  claim 1 , wherein the elastomeric polymer is a thermoplastic elastomer. 
     
     
         10 . The air freshener device in accordance with  claim 9 , wherein the thermoplastic elastomer is selected from the group consisting of polyurethanes, polyamides, copolyesters, styrene-butadiene-styrene polymers, elastomer/thermoplastic blends, and combinations thereof. 
     
     
         11 . The air freshener device in accordance with  claim 1 , wherein the bodies include polyurethane and the scent material includes a scented oil. 
     
     
         12 . The air freshener device in accordance with  claim 1 , wherein the bodies are a polymerization product of at least a diisocyanate prepolymer and a scented oil. 
     
     
         13 . The air freshener device in accordance with  claim 12 , wherein the bodies and scent material include a polymerization product of:
 a) a polyether polyol;   b) a diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI) prepolymer; and   c) a scented oil.   
     
     
         14 . The air freshener device in accordance with  claim 1 , wherein the elastomeric polymer includes a polyurethane gel. 
     
     
         15 . The air freshener device in accordance with  claim 1 , wherein the elastomeric polymer is selected from the group consisting of polyurethane, polyacrylate, polybutadiene, ethylene propylene elastomer, styrene/butadiene block copolymer, and mixtures thereof, the elastomeric polymer being a solid material. 
     
     
         16 . The air freshener device in accordance with  claim 1 , wherein the clip is a vent clip, and wherein the head is pivotally coupled to the vent clip; and further comprising:
 a hinge between the head and the vent clip including a hinge clip engaged in an aperture; and   one or more ridges corresponding to one or more depressions associated with the hinge clip and the aperture, the hinge clip compressing as a ridge is forced out of a depression when the head is pivoted with respect to the vent clip, the one or more ridges and the one or more depressions defining various different positions of the head with respect to the vent clip.   
     
     
         17 . The air freshener device in accordance with  claim 16 , wherein the head and the pair of vent rods have at least two configurations, including:
 a storage configuration wherein the head is substantially parallel with the pair of vent rods; and   a use configuration wherein the head is transverse to the pair of vent rods.   
     
     
         18 . The air freshener device in accordance with  claim 16 , wherein the head is removably coupled to the pair of vent rods. 
     
     
         19 . The air freshener device in accordance with  claim 16 , further comprising a container containing the air freshener device; wherein the container is configured to display a face of the head in a position substantially parallel with the pair of vent rods, and wherein the head is capable of pivoting to a different position for use, with the face transverse to the pair of vent rods. 
     
     
         20 . The air freshener device in accordance with  claim 1 , wherein each of the pair of bodies are bound axially on opposite longitudinal ends by the head on one end and a hook of a corresponding vent rod on the other end. 
     
     
         21 . The air freshener device in accordance with  claim 1 , further comprising opposing protrusions formed on the pair of vent rods inside the clip. 
     
     
         22 . An air freshener device, comprising:
 a head with a face;   at least one vent rod pivotally coupled to the head and configured to engage an air vent;   a scent material, associated with the at least one vent rod and separate from the head;   a hinge between the head and the at least one vent rod including a hinge clip engaged in an aperture; and   one or more ridges corresponding to one or more depressions associated with the hinge clip and the aperture, the hinge clip compressing as a ridge is forced out of a depression when the hinge head is pivoted with respect to the at least one vent rod, the one or more ridges and the one or more depressions defining various different positions of the head with respect to the at least one vent rod.   
     
     
         23 . The air freshener device in accordance with  claim 22 , wherein the face is a domed face and is exposed. 
     
     
         24 . The air freshener device in accordance with  claim 22 , wherein the scent material includes a body carried by the at least one vent rod and separate from the head. 
     
     
         25 . The air freshener device in accordance with  claim 22 , wherein the head has a fixed configuration oriented perpendicular to longitudinal axis of the at least one vent rod. 
     
     
         26 . The air freshener device in accordance with  claim 22 , wherein the head and the at least one vent rod have at least two configurations, including:
 a storage configuration wherein the head is substantially parallel with the at least one vent rod; and   a use configuration wherein the head is transverse to the at least one vent rod.   
     
     
         27 . The air freshener device in accordance with  claim 22 , wherein the head is removably coupled to the at least one vent rod. 
     
     
         28 . The air freshener device in accordance with  claim 22 , further comprising a container containing the air freshener device; wherein the container is configured to display a face of the head in a position substantially parallel with the pair of vent rods, and wherein the head is capable of pivoting to a different position for use, with the face transverse to the pair of vent rods. 
     
     
         29 . The air freshener device in accordance with  claim 22 , wherein the scent material includes a body carried by the at least one vent rod and bound axially on opposite longitudinal ends by the head on one end and a hook of the at least one vent rod on the other end. 
     
     
         30 . The air freshener device in accordance with  claim 22 , wherein the at least one vent rod includes a pair of vent rods forming a clip; and further comprising opposing protrusions formed on the pair of vent rods inside the clip. 
     
     
         31 . An air freshener device, comprising:
 a) a vent clip with a pair of vent rods sized and shaped to be inserted into a vehicle air vent and clipped to a vehicle air vent cover;   b) the pair of vent rods being oriented substantially parallel with one another and having a substantially equal length;   c) a carrier material carried by at least one vent rod;   d) the carrier material extending along the at least one vent rod and having a length substantially equal to the at least one vent rod and insertable into the vehicle air vent with the pair of vent rods;   e) a scent material, interspersed within the carrier material, capable of diffusing out of the carrier material to surrounding air; and   f) the carrier material being coupled to the at least one vent rod.   
     
     
         32 . The air freshener device in accordance with  claim 31 , further comprising means for coupling the carrier material to the at least one vent rod. 
     
     
         33 . The air freshener device in accordance with  claim 32 , wherein the means for coupling includes one or more apertures snapping onto one or more protrusions. 
     
     
         34 . The air freshener device in accordance with  claim 31 , further comprising a head with indicia. 
     
     
         35 . The air freshener device in accordance with  claim 32 , wherein the carrier material is carried by both of the pair of vent rods. 
     
     
         36 . The air freshener device in accordance with  claim 31 , further comprising:
 a head with the pair of vent rods extending from the head;   a carrier material disposed about the head; and   a scent material, interspersed within the carrier material about the head, capable of diffusing out of the carrier material to surrounding air.   
     
     
         37 . The air freshener device in accordance with  claim 36 , wherein a cross-sectional area of the head is at least as large as a cross-sectional area of the pair of rods.
