Abstract
Embodiments described herein provide a user with the ability to enter and validate contact addresses when composing a message on a mobile device. The user may access at least one of a local contact address data store and a remote contact address data store when entering and validating contact addresses.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A method of contact address entry for messages composed on a computing device, the method comprising:
detecting entry of a contact address in an address field in a message; checking a data store for a stored contact address that matches the entered contact address; and after determining that there is no stored contact address that matches the entered contact address,
identifying at least one stored contact address in the data store where for each identified stored contact address, the entered contact address contains at least one of a misspelling or a transposing of characters of the identified stored contact address, and
displaying the at least one identified stored contact address in a user interface.
2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising receiving a manual correction of the entered contact address.
3 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising checking the entered contact address for proper syntax.
4 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising, if there is no stored contact address that matches the entered contact address, accepting the entered contact address as a correct contact address.
5 . The method of claim 4 , further comprising receiving a manual correction of the entered contact address prior to accepting the entered contact address as a correct contact address.
6 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising remotely looking up a correct contact address for the entered contact address.
7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the computing device comprises a mobile communication device.
8 . A computing device configured to receive contact address entries for messages, the computing device comprising:
a processor, a memory, and a user interface; wherein the processor is configured to: detect entry of a contact address in an address field in a message; check a data store for a stored contact address that matches the entered contact address; and after determining that there is no stored contact address that matches the entered contact address,
identify at least one stored contact address in the data store where for each identified stored contact address, the entered contact address contains at least one of a misspelling or a transposing of characters of the identified stored contact address, and
display the at least one identified stored contact address in the user interface.
9 . The device of claim 8 , wherein the processor is further configured to receive a manual correction of the entered contact address.
10 . The device of claim 8 , wherein the processor is further configured to check the entered contact address for proper syntax.
11 . The device of claim 8 , wherein the processor is further configured to, if there is no stored contact address that matches the entered contact address, accept the entered contact address as a correct contact address.
12 . The device of claim 11 , wherein the processor is further configured to receive a manual correction of the entered contact address prior to accepting the entered contact address as a correct contact address.
13 . The device of claim 8 , wherein the processor is further configured to remotely look up a correct contact address for the entered contact address.
14 . The device of claim 8 , wherein the computing device comprises a mobile communication device.
15 . A computer-readable medium comprising instructions executable by a processor of a computing device, the instructions for implementing a method of contact address entry for messages composed on the computing device, wherein the instructions configure the processor to:
detect entry of a contact address in an address field in a message; check a data store for a stored contact address that matches the entered contact address; and after determining that there is no stored contact address that matches the entered contact address,
identify at least one stored contact address in the data store where for each identified stored contact address, the entered contact address contains at least one of a misspelling or a transposing of characters of the identified stored contact address, and
display the at least one identified stored contact address in a user interface.
16 . The medium of claim 15 , wherein the instructions further configure the processor to receive a manual correction of the entered contact address.
17 . The medium of claim 15 , wherein the instructions further configure the processor to check the entered contact address for proper syntax.
18 . The medium of claim 15 , wherein the instructions further configure the processor to, if there is no stored contact address that matches the entered contact address, accept the entered contact address as a correct contact address.
19 . The medium of claim 18 , wherein the instructions further configure the processor to receive a manual correction of the entered contact address prior to accepting the entered contact address as a correct contact address.
20 . The medium of claim 15 , wherein the instructions further configure the processor to remotely look up a correct contact address for the entered contact address.Cited by (0)
