Abstract

A shelving system including brackets and shelves suspended by straps from various types of shelving. One bracket for hanging shelves from straps from a solid surface shelf is provided. The bracket includes first and second legs and a connecting portion defining an opening for receiving the shelf. Another bracket for hanging shelves from straps from a wire shelf deck is provided. The bracket includes a plate with first and second edges bent in the same direction, and first and second substantially parallel slots in the plate receive a strap. A shelf for hanging from a plurality of straps is provided. The shelf includes a deck, which may include one or more materials, and a clamp mounted to the deck. A shelving system includes a bracket that engages a fixed shelf, a one strap depending from the bracket, and a shelf releasably attached to the at least one strap.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

1 . A bracket for hanging a structure supported by one or more straps from a solid surface shelf including a front edge and a deck having a top and a bottom, the bracket comprising:
an elongated first leg with a proximal end and a distal free end; an elongated second leg with a proximal end and a distal free end, and a connecting portion, wherein the proximal end of the first leg is connected to the connecting portion, the proximal end of the second leg is connected to the connecting portion, and the first leg and second leg are substantially parallel and extend from the connecting portion in substantially the same direction to define an elongated opening,
wherein the opening is adapted to receive the front edge and a portion of the deck of the shelf.

2 . The bracket of claim 1 , wherein the second leg defines at least one area for receiving a strap.

3 . The bracket of claim 2 , wherein the at least one area for receiving a strap comprises a slot through the second leg.

4 . The bracket of claim 2 , wherein the portion of the first leg that defines the opening comprises a first inner surface, the portion of the second leg that defines the opening comprises a second inner surface, and the first inner surface is adapted to rest on the top of the deck.

5 . The bracket of claim 4 , wherein the second inner surface is adapted to contact the bottom of the deck.

6 . The bracket of claim 4 , wherein the second leg comprises an open channel with edges, the second inner surface comprises the edges, and the at least one area for receiving a strap comprises a recessed area along the second inner surface.

7 . The bracket of claim 1 , wherein the bracket comprises metal tubing.

8 . A bracket for hanging a structure supported by one or more straps from a wire shelf deck, the bracket comprising a plate including a body and first edge parallel to and spaced from a second edge, wherein the first and second edges are bent in the same direction relative to the body, the body defining first and second substantially parallel slots adapted to receive a strap, wherein the slots are substantially parallel to the first and second edges.

9 . The bracket of claim 7 , wherein the first and second edges are bent to be substantially arcuate, forming an inside surface on the inner diameter of each arcuate edge.

10 . The bracket of claim 9 , wherein the body is adapted to rest on the wire shelf deck, and the first and second edges are spaced for receiving shelf wires in registration with the inside surface of each of the substantially arcuate first and second edges.

11 . The bracket of claim 10 , wherein the first and second edges are adapted to be spaced such that the bracket may rest on the shelf deck with one wire substantially centered between the parallel slots.

12 . The bracket of claim 8 , wherein the first parallel slot has an outboard side proximate to the first edge, the second parallel slot has an outboard side proximate to the second edge, and each slot has an inboard side opposing the respective outboard side.

13 . The bracket of claim 12 , wherein the inboard sides each form an arcuate surface bent in the same direction as the first and second edges.
