Abstract
A method and a system for maintaining a record of a shipping insurance elected by a seller eligible to purchase the shipping insurance for an item to be shipped to a buyer are described. A claim and complaint module receives a complaint from the buyer and a claim from the seller. A claim processing module processes the claim from the seller based on the corresponding complaint from the buyer. A seller shipping insurance module offers or refuses to offer shipping insurance to the seller based on fraudulent activity associated with the buyer.

a processor; and memory having stored thereon instructions that are executable by the processor to cause the system to:
receive information associated with a transaction of an item:
determine, based on a fraud rate associated with a shipping destination address of the transaction, whether to offer shipping insurance for the item: and
in response to determining to offer shipping insurance and to receiving a request for the shipping insurance, causing a shipping insurance policy to be
2 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the instructions further cause the system to:
present a seller of the item an option to purchase the shipping through an electronic marketplace on which the transaction of the item occurred; and
receive the request for the shipping insurance.
3 . The system of claim 2 , wherein the instructions further cause the system to automatically and without human intervention file a claim based on the seller failing to lodge the claim within a predetermined period, via the electronic marketplace on which the transaction of the item occurred.
4 . The system of clam 1 , wherein the fraud rate associated with the shipping destination address is determined based on a complain rate associated with the shipping destination address.
5 . The system of claim 1 , the instructions farther cause the system to provide a shipping label that incorporates information identifying the shipping insurance.
6 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the instructions further cause the system to receive a claim from the seller based on the shipping insurance,
7 . The system of claim 6 , wherein the instructions further cause the system to contact the buyer to validate the claim from the seller.
8 . The system of claim 6 , wherein the instructions further cause the system to:
receive a complaint from the buyer for the shipped item; process the claim from the seller based on the complaint from the buyer; validate the claim from the seller based on a validation of the claim from the buyer; correlate the claim from the seller with the complaint from the buyer for the shipped item; determine a fraudulent activity from the buyer or the seller related to the shipped item; and deny the claim from the seller based on the determination of fraudulent activity.
9 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the correlating. of the claim from the seller with the complaint from the buyer for the shipped item correlates based on the buyer validating the claim from the seller and based on the seller validating the complaint from the buyer.
10 . A method comprising:
receiving information associated with a transaction of an item; determining, by a processor of a machine, based on a fraud rate associated with a shipping destination address of the transaction, whether to offer shipping insurance for the item; and in response to determining to offer shipping insurance and to receiving a request for the shipping insurance, causing a shipping insurance policy to be issued.
11 . The method of claim 10 , further comprising:
presenting a seller of the item an option to purchase the shipping through an electronic marketplace on which the transaction of the item occurred; and receiving the request for the shipping insurance.
12 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the instructions further cause the system to automatically and without human intervention file a claim based on the seller failing to lodge the claim within a predetermined period, via the electronic marketplace on which the transaction of the item occurred.
13 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the fraud rate associated with the shipping destination address is determined based on a complaint rate associated with the shipping destination address.
14 . The method of claim 10 , further comprising providing a shipping label that incorporates information identifying the shipping insurance.
15 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the instructions further cause the system to receive a claim from the seller based on the shipping insurance.
16 . The method of claim 15 , wherein the instructions further cause the system to contact the buyer to validate the claim from the seller,.
17 . The method of claim 15 , Wherein the instructions further cause the system to:
receive a complaint from the buyer for the shipped item; process the claim from the seller based on the complaint from the buyer; validate the claim from the seller based on a validation of the claim from the buyer; correlate the claim from the seller with the complaint from the buyer for the shipped item; determine a fraudulent activity from the buyer or the seller related to the shipped item; and deny the claim from the seller based on the determination of fraudulent activity.
18 . The method of claim 17 , wherein the correlating of the claim from the seller with the complaint from the buyer for the shipped item correlates based on the buyer validating the claim from the seller and based on the seller validating the complaint from the buyer.
19 . A non-transitory machine-readable storage medium comprising instructions that, when executed by one or more processors of a machine, cause the machine to perform operations comprising:
receiving information associated with a transaction of an item; determining, based on a fraud rate associated with a shipping destination address of the transaction, whether to offer shipping insurance for the item; and in response to determining to offer shipping insurance and to receiving a request for the shipping insurance, causing a shipping insurance policy to be issued.
20 . The non-transmit machine-readable storage medium of claim 19 , wherein the operations further comprise:
