Abstract

Various methods and apparatuses for measuring a state parameter of an individual using signals based on one or more sensors are disclosed. In one embodiment, a first set of signals is used in a first function to determine how a second set of signals is used in one or more second functions to predict the state parameter. In another embodiment, first and second functions are used where the state parameter or an indicator of the state parameter may be obtained from a relationship between the first function and the second function. The state parameter may, for example, include calories consumed or calories burned by the individual. Various methods for making such apparatuses are also disclosed.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . (canceled)

2 . An apparatus for detecting, identifying and reporting a the activities of an individual for a given period of time, comprising:
a wearable device adapted to be worn on the arm of said individual; a galvanic skin response sensor, a temperature sensor, and a movement sensor at least one of on or within the wearable device generating sensor output signals; a processor in communication with galvanic skin response sensor, a temperature sensor, and a movement sensor:
 (i) solely from the sensor output signals, automatically identifying a plurality of activities of the user individual in which the individual is engaged, wherein at least one of the plurality of activities comprises sleep; (ii) recording each of said identified activities as performed by said individual for said given period of time; and
an output device in electronic communication with said processor, which communicates the plurality of identified activities to a user.

3 . An apparatus according to claim 2 , wherein said output further comprises a journal of said recorded and identified activities of said individual over a said given period of time.

4 . An apparatus according to claim 2 , further comprising an electronic link to a secondary device, wherein said processor controls at least one function of said secondary device based upon said identified activity of the individual.
