Recursive Subscriptions to Content Feeds
Abstract
A server system subscribes a first user of a first client device, in communication with the server system, to a specified stream of content feeds, where the specified stream of content feeds was defined by a second user at a second client device and comprises one or more other streams of content feeds, a respective stream of the one or more other streams of content feeds was defined by a third user at a third client device and comprises two or more content feeds, and each content feed comprises a set of content items published by a respective publication source. Pursuant to the subscription of the first user to the specified stream of content feeds, the server system sends to the first client device for presentation to the first user content items associated with the specified stream of content feeds.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A method of providing content, comprising:
at server system having one or more processors, memory storing one or more programs for execution by the one or more processors, and a communications interface for communication with other systems and devices:
subscribing a first user of a first client device, in communication with the server system, to a specified stream of content feeds, wherein the specified stream of content feeds was defined by a second user at a second client device and comprises one or more other streams of content feeds, wherein a respective stream of the one or more other streams of content feeds was defined by a third user at a third client device and comprises two or more content feeds, and wherein each content feed comprises a set of content items published by a respective publication source; and
pursuant to the subscription of the first user to the specified stream of content feeds, sending to the first client device for presentation to the first user content items associated with the specified stream of content feeds.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the specified stream of content feeds has an associated identifier that includes a user name and a label, wherein the user name corresponds to a user other than the first user of the first client device and the label comprises a label assigned by the other user to the respective stream.
3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the specified stream of content feeds has an associated identifier that includes a user name, corresponding to the second user at the second client device, and a label assigned by the second user to the specified stream of content feeds.
4 . The method of claim 1 , including sending to the first client device for presentation to the first user a stream identifier for a respective stream of the one or more other streams of content feeds, the stream identifier including a user name and a label, wherein the user name identifies a user other than the first user of the first client device and the label comprises a label assigned by the other user to the respective stream.
5 . The method of claim 1 , including, at the server system, subscribing a fourth user at a fourth client device to the specified stream of content feeds.
6 . The method of claim 1 , including, at the server system, in response to instructions from one or more users, making the specified stream or one of the other streams available for subscription by other users.
7 . A server system, comprising:
memory; one or more processors; and one or more programs stored in the memory and configured for execution by the one or more processors, the one or more programs including:
instructions for subscribing a first user of a first client device, in communication with the server system, to a specified stream of content feeds, wherein the specified stream of content feeds was defined by a second user at a second client device and comprises one or more other streams of content feeds, wherein a respective stream of the one or more other streams of content feeds was defined by a third user at a third client device and comprises two or more content feeds, and wherein each content feed comprises a set of content items published by a respective publication source; and
instructions for sending content items associated with the specified stream of content feeds to the first client device for presentation to the first user, pursuant to the subscription of the first user to the specified stream of content feeds.
8 . The server system of claim 7 , wherein the specified stream of content feeds has an associated identifier that includes a user name and a label, wherein the user name corresponds to a user other than the first user of the first client device and the label comprises a label assigned by the other user to the respective stream.
9 . The server system of claim 7 , wherein the specified stream of content feeds has an associated identifier that includes a user name, corresponding to the second user at the second client device, and a label assigned by the second user to the specified stream of content feeds.
10 . The server system of claim 7 , the one or more programs including instructions for sending to the first client device for presentation to the first user a stream identifier for a respective stream of the one or more other streams of content feeds, the stream identifier including a user name and a label, wherein the user name identifies a user other than the first user of the first client device and the label comprises a label assigned by the other user to the respective stream.
11 . The server system of claim 7 , the one or more programs including instructions for subscribing a fourth user at a fourth client device to the specified stream of content feeds.
12 . The server system of claim 7 , the one or more programs including instructions for making the specified stream or one of the other streams available for subscription by other users, in response to instructions from one or more users.
13 . A non-transitory computer readable storage medium storing one or more programs configured to be executed by a server system remotely located from one or more client devices, the one or more programs comprising:
instructions for subscribing a first user of a first client device, in communication with the server system, to a specified stream of content feeds, wherein the specified stream of content feeds was defined by a second user at a second client device and comprises one or more other streams of content feeds, wherein a respective stream of the one or more other streams of content feeds was defined by a third user at a third client device and comprises two or more content feeds, and wherein each content feed comprises a set of content items published by a respective publication source; and instructions for sending content items associated with the specified stream of content feeds to the first client device for presentation to the first user, pursuant to the subscription of the first user to the specified stream of content feeds.
14 . The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 13 , wherein the specified stream of content feeds has an associated identifier that includes a user name and a label, wherein the user name corresponds to a user other than the first user of the first client device and the label comprises a label assigned by the other user to the respective stream.
15 . The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 13 , wherein the specified stream of content feeds has an associated identifier that includes a user name, corresponding to the second user at the second client device, and a label assigned by the second user to the specified stream of content feeds.
16 . The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 13 , the one or more programs including instructions for sending to the first client device for presentation to the first user a stream identifier for a respective stream of the one or more other streams of content feeds, the stream identifier including a user name and a label, wherein the user name identifies a user other than the first user of the first client device and the label comprises a label assigned by the other user to the respective stream.
17 . The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 13 , the one or more programs including instructions for subscribing a fourth user at a fourth client device to the specified stream of content feeds.
18 . The non-transitory computer readable storage medium of claim 13 , the one or more programs including instructions for making the specified stream or one of the other streams available for subscription by other users, in response to instructions from one or more users.Cited by (0)
