Abstract
Branched nanowire preparation methods, compositions, and articles are disclosed. Such branched nanowires are useful for electronics and optical applications.

1 . A method comprising:
providing at least one first silver metal ion; and reducing the at least one first silver metal ion to at least one first branched silver metal nanowire in the presence of at least one of a second metal ion comprising at least one of an ion of an IUPAC Group 5 element, an one ion of an IUPAC Group 6 element, or a ruthenium ion, wherein the branched silver metal nanowire consists of elemental silver.
2 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one second metal ion comprises at least one of a vanadium ion, a tungsten ion, or a ruthenium ion.
3 . The method according to claim 1 , wherein the reduction occurs in the presence of at least one of a protecting agent or a polyol.
