Agent for increasing testosterone level

Abstract

Provided is a substance which is a safer and more commonly-consumed food ingredient that increase the testosterone level. The testosterone enhancer of the invention comprises vitamin K as an active ingredient. The vitamin is preferably menaquinone-4 and/or menaquinone-7. This enhancer is useful as pharmaceutical agents, supplements, health foods or functional foods for the prevention, amelioration and/or treatment of a condition or disease induced by the decreased testosterone level.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A method of enhancing testosterone, including the step of administering a composition comprising vitamin K to a person in need of testosterone excluding a person suffering from a disease associated with dementia, to enhance testosterone. 
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the vitamin K is chosen from the group consisting of vitamin K1, vitamin K2 (menaquinone), and vitamin K3. 
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 2 , wherein the vitamin K2 is chosen from the group consisting of menaquinone-4, menaquinone-7, and combinations thereof. 
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the composition is further defined as a pharmaceutical composition. 
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the composition is further defined as a substance chosen from the group consisting of a supplement, a health food and a functional food.
