Abstract

A brake pad assembly having a table and a web. The web may extend from the table and include a flange that may be disposed opposite the table.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A brake pad assembly comprising:
 a table; and first and second webs that extend from the table, wherein the first and second webs each include a first end surface disposed adjacent to the table and a second end surface that is disposed opposite the first end surface, wherein a flange is disposed proximate the second end surface.

         2 . The brake pad assembly of claim 1 wherein the first and second webs are spaced apart from each other.

         3 . The brake pad assembly of claim 2 wherein the flange on the first web extends toward the flange on the second web.

         4 . The brake pad assembly of claim 2 wherein the flange on first web extends in an opposite direction from the flange on the second web.

         5 . The brake pad assembly of claim 1 wherein the flange on the first web and the flange on the second web extend substantially parallel to the table.

         6 . The brake pad assembly of claim 1 wherein the first web has a first surface and the flange on the first web extends substantially perpendicular to the first surface.

         7 . The brake pad assembly of claim 1 wherein the second web has a first surface and the flange on the second web extends substantially perpendicular to the first surface.

         8 . The brake pad assembly of claim 1 wherein the flange on the first web and the flange on the second web extend along an arc.

         9 . The brake pad assembly of claim 1 wherein the flanges on the first and second webs each have a first portion that extends from the first surface and a second portion that extends from the second surface, wherein the first and second portions extend in opposite directions.

         10 . A brake pad assembly comprising:
 a table; and a first web that extends from the table and includes:
 a flange disposed opposite the table; and
 first and second bearing flanges that are disposed at opposite ends of the first web;
   wherein the flange, first bearing flange, and second bearing flange extend a common direction.

         11 . The brake pad assembly of claim 10 wherein the first web has a first surface and a second surface disposed opposite the first surface, wherein the flange, first bearing flange, and second bearing flange extend substantially perpendicular to the first surface.

         12 . The brake pad assembly of claim 10 wherein the flange is disposed between the first and second bearing flanges.

         13 . The brake pad assembly of claim 10 wherein the flange is spaced apart from the first and second bearing flanges.

         14 . The brake pad assembly of claim 11 wherein the flange has a flange end surface and the first bearing flange has a first bearing flange end surface, wherein the first bearing flange end surface extends further from the first surface than the flange end surface.

         15 . The brake pad assembly of claim 14 wherein the second bearing flange has a second bearing flange end surface, wherein the second bearing flange end surface extends further from the first surface than the flange end surface.

         16 . The brake pad assembly of claim 10 wherein the first and second bearing flanges extend along an arc.

         17 . The brake pad assembly of claim 10 wherein the first web has a first surface and a second surface disposed opposite the first surface, wherein the first and second bearing flanges each have a first portion that extends from the first surface and a second portion that extends from the second surface, wherein the first and second portions extend in opposite directions.

         18 . A brake pad assembly comprising:
 a table having a first table surface and a second table surface disposed opposite the first table surface; a friction material disposed proximate the first table surface; and
       first and second webs that extend from the second table surface and are spaced apart from each other, wherein the first and second webs each include:
   a flange that is spaced apart from and disposed opposite the table; and   first and second bearing flanges that are disposed proximate the flange;
 wherein the flange, first bearing flange, and second bearing flange on the first web extend a common surface from the first web and wherein the flange, first bearing flange, and second bearing flange on the second web extend from a common surface of the second web.

         19 . The brake pad assembly of claim 18 wherein the first bearing flange is radially disposed with respect to a first axis and the second bearing flange is radially disposed with respect to a second axis.

         20 . The brake pad assembly of claim 18 wherein the first and second webs each include a set of openings that are disposed between the table and the flange.
