Abstract
Disclosed is a method of diagnosing cancer on the basis of the quantitative analysis of blood or tissue isotopes, for example, such as 36 S or 40 K. The method can accurately diagnose cancer in a patient even when it is too small for current conventional technology to diagnose.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A method of diagnosing cancer in a patient, comprising
(a) measuring the level of isotope 36 S in a blood sample or a tissue sample of the patient by using a double-focus type mass spectrophotometer; (b) measuring the level of isotope 40 K in a blood sample or a tissue sample of the patient by using a double-focus type mass spectrophotometer; and (c) diagnosing cancer in the patient if 36 S and 40 K are not detected.
2 . The method according to claim 1 ,
wherein the method further comprises measuring the level of deuterium 2 D or 18 O in a blood sample or a tissue sample of the patient and diagnosing cancer in the patient if the level of the 2 D or 18 O isotope is greater than the level of a normal standard for the 2 D or 18 O isotope.
3 . The method according to claim 2 ,
wherein the method comprises measuring the level of deuterium 2 D D in a blood sample or a tissue sample of the patient and diagnosing cancer in the patient if more than 1.2 times increased level of 2 D is detected in the blood sample or tissue sample of the patient compared to a normal standard for 2 D isotope, or the method comprises measuring the level of 18 O in a blood sample or a tissue sample of the patient and diagnosing cancer in the patient if more than 1.4 times increased level of 18 O is detected in the blood sample or tissue sample of the patient compared to a normal standard for 18 O isotope.
4 . The method according to claim 1 ,
wherein the method further comprises measuring the level of at least one from the group consisting of sulfur isotopes other than 36 S, magnesium isotopes, silicon isotopes, calcium isotopes and iron isotopes in a blood sample or a tissue sample of the patient and diagnosing cancer in the patient if an increased level of at least one from the group consisting of sulfur isotopes, magnesium isotopes, silicon isotopes, calcium isotopes and iron isotopes is detected in the blood sample or tissue sample of the patient compared to a normal standard for the isotope.
5 . The method according to claim 4 ,
wherein the method comprises measuring the level of sulfur isotope 33 S or 34 S in a blood sample or a tissue sample of the patient and diagnosing cancer in the patient if more than 1.3 times increased level of 33 S or 34 S is detected in the blood sample or tissue sample of the patient compared to a normal standard for 33 S or 34 S.
6 . The method according to claim 4 ,
wherein the method comprises measuring the level of 26 Mg in a blood sample or a tissue sample of the patient and diagnosing cancer in the patient if more than 2.5 times increased level of 26 Mg is detected in the blood sample or tissue sample of the patient compared to a normal standard for 26 Mg.
7 . The method according to claim 4 ,
wherein the method comprises measuring the level of 29 Si or 30 Si in a blood sample or a tissue sample of the patient and diagnosing cancer in the patient if more than 2.4 times increased level of 29 Si or 30 Si is detected in the blood sample or tissue sample of the patient compared to a normal standard for 29 Si or 20 Si.
8 . The method according to claim 4 ,
wherein the method comprises measuring the level of 57 Fe or 58 Fe in a blood sample or a tissue sample of the patient and diagnosing cancer in the patient if more than 1.6 times increased level of 57 Fe or 58 Fe is detected in the blood sample or tissue sample of the patient compared to a normal standard for 57 Fe or 99 Fe.
9 . The method according to claim 4 ,
wherein the method comprises measuring the level of at least one of the calcium isotopes 42 Ca, 43 Ca, 44 Ca, 46 Ca and 48 Ca in a blood sample or a tissue sample of the patient and diagnosing cancer in the patient if more than 2.8 times increased level of at least one of the calcium isotopes 42 Ca, 43 Ca, 44 Ca, 46 Ca and 48 Ca, is detected in the blood sample or tissue sample of the patient compared to a normal standard for at least one of the calcium isotopes 42 Ca, 43 Ca, 44 Ca, 46 Ca and 48 Ca.
10 . The method according to claim 2 ,
wherein the method comprises measuring the level of deuterium 2 D.
11 . The method according to claim 2 ,
wherein the method comprises measuring the level of 18 O.
12 . The method according to claim 2 ,
wherein the method further comprises measuring the level of at least one from the group consisting of sulfur isotopes other than 36 S, magnesium isotopes, silicon isotopes, calcium isotopes and iron isotopes in a blood sample or a tissue sample of the patient and diagnosing cancer in the patient if an increased level of at least one from the group consisting of sulfur isotopes, magnesium isotopes, silicon isotopes, calcium isotopes and iron isotopes is detected in the blood sample or tissue sample of the patient compared to a normal standard for the isotope.
13 . The method according to claim 3 ,
wherein the method further comprises measuring the level of at least one from the group consisting of sulfur isotopes other than 36 S, magnesium isotopes, silicon isotopes, calcium isotopes and iron isotopes in a blood sample or a tissue sample of the patient and diagnosing cancer in the patient if an increased level of at least one from the group consisting of sulfur isotopes, magnesium isotopes, silicon isotopes, calcium isotopes and iron isotopes is detected in the blood sample or tissue sample of the patient compared to a normal standard for the isotope.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
