Equipment strap system

Abstract

A strap for attaching to a piece of equipment may include a strap member that has a first end and a second end with the first end containing a first loop and the second end containing a second loop. A first connecting element may be removably inserted into the first loop, and a second connecting element may be removably inserted into the second loop. The first connecting element and the second connecting element are removably attached to a first attachment point and a second attachment point respectively. During use, the first connecting element is detachable from the first attachment point and reattachable to the first attachment point or a plurality of alternative attachment points, and the second connecting element is detachable from the second attachment point and reattachable to the second attachment point or the plurality of alternative attachment points. The strap may contain a quick-release mechanism.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A strap for attaching to a piece of equipment comprising:
 a strap member having a first end and a second end, said first end containing a first loop and said second end containing a second loop;   a first connecting element being removably inserted into said first loop, and a second connecting element being removably inserted into said second loop;   wherein said first connecting element and said second connecting element are removably attached to a first attachment point and a second attachment point respectively;   wherein during use, said first connecting element is detachable from said first attachment point and reattachable to said first attachment point or a plurality of alternative attachment points, and said second connecting element is detachable from said second attachment point and reattachable to said second attachment point or said plurality of alternative attachment points;   wherein at least one of said first connecting element coupled to said first loop and said second connecting element coupled to said second loop is connected to said piece of equipment.   
     
     
         2 . The strap for attaching to a piece of equipment of  claim 1 , wherein said first attachment point and said second attachment point are the same point. 
     
     
         3 . The strap for attaching to a piece of equipment of  claim 1 , wherein at least one attachment point of said plurality of alternative attachment points is located at a point not on said piece of equipment. 
     
     
         4 . The strap for attaching to a piece of equipment of  claim 1 , further comprising:
 a first lower riser having a first lower riser loop, said first lower riser being attached to said piece of equipment;   wherein said first lower riser loop of said first lower riser is said first attachment point.   
     
     
         5 . The strap for attaching to a piece of equipment of  claim 4 , further comprising:
 a second lower riser having a second lower riser loop, said second lower riser being attached to said piece of equipment;   wherein said second lower riser loop of said second lower riser is said second attachment point.   
     
     
         6 . The strap for attaching to a piece of equipment of  claim 1 , wherein said second loop has a larger diameter than said first loop. 
     
     
         7 . The strap for attaching to a piece of equipment of  claim 1 , wherein said strap member contains a quick release mechanism. 
     
     
         8 . The strap for attaching to a piece of equipment of  claim 7 , wherein said quick-release mechanism couples said strap member to said second loop. 
     
     
         9 . The strap for attaching to a piece of equipment of  claim 7 , wherein said quick-release mechanism has an upper portion and a lower portion, said upper portion having a buckle with a shaft member extending outward from said buckle, said lower portion having an opening configured to receive said shaft member and a set of tabs adjacent to said opening to engage and disengage said shaft member in said opening. 
     
     
         10 . The strap for attaching to a piece of equipment of  claim 1 , wherein said first loop and said second loop are created by a seven-layer fold. 
     
     
         11 . A strap for attaching to a piece of equipment comprising:
 a strap member having a first end and a second end, said first end having a first upper riser and said second end having a second upper riser, wherein said first upper riser has a first upper riser loop, and said second upper riser has a second upper riser loop;   a first lower riser being coupleable to said piece of equipment, said first lower riser containing a first lower riser loop;   wherein a first carabiner is inserted into said first upper riser loop and into said first lower riser loop, coupling said first upper riser to said first lower riser;   wherein a second carabiner is inserted into said second upper riser loop, said second carabiner enabling said second upper riser loop to be removably attached to a plurality of attachment points;   wherein said first carabiner is detachable from said first lower riser loop and reattachable to said first lower riser or said plurality of attachment points, and said second carabiner is detachable from said plurality of attachment points and reattachable to said plurality of attachment points.   
     
     
         12 . The strap for attaching to a piece of equipment of  claim 11 , further comprising:
 a second lower riser coupleable to said piece of equipment, wherein said second lower riser has a second lower riser loop, said second lower riser loop being coupleable to said first or said second upper riser using said first carabiner or said second carabiner, respectively.   
     
     
         13 . The strap for attaching to a piece of equipment of  claim 12 , wherein said first upper riser loop, said second upper riser loop, said first lower riser loop, and said second lower riser loop are tapered. 
     
     
         14 . The strap for attaching to a piece of equipment of  claim 11 , wherein said second upper riser loop is larger in diameter than said first upper riser loop. 
     
     
         15 . The strap for attaching to a piece of equipment of  claim 11 , wherein said strap member contains a quick-release mechanism. 
     
     
         16 . A strap for attaching to a piece of equipment comprising:
 a strap member having a first end and a second end, said first end having a first upper riser and said second end having a second upper riser, wherein said first upper riser has a first upper riser loop, and said second upper riser has a second upper riser loop;   a first lower riser being coupleable to said piece of equipment, said first lower riser containing a first lower riser loop;   wherein said first upper riser loop, said second upper riser loop, and said first lower riser loop have a tapered design, said tapered design created by folding the edges of each loop towards the interior of each loop;   wherein a first connecting element is inserted into said first upper riser loop and into said first lower riser loop, coupling said first upper riser to said first lower riser;   wherein a second connecting element is inserted into said second upper riser loop, said second connecting element enabling said second upper riser loop to be removably attached to a plurality of attachment points;   wherein said first connecting element is detachable from said first lower riser loop and reattachable to said first lower riser or said plurality of attachment points, and said second connecting element is detachable from said plurality of attachment points and reattachable to said plurality of attachment points.
