Abstract

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium has tangibly embodied thereon and accessible therefrom instructions interpretable by at least one data processing device. The instructions are configured for causing the at least one data processing device to perform a method of enabling a user to determine cloud service resource requirements of a modeled cloud service solution, deploy an actual cloud service solution having cloud service resources defined by the cloud service resource requirements of the modeled cloud service solution, and, after deploying the actual cloud service solution, access information characterizing utilization of the cloud service resources of the actual cloud service solution with respect to available capacity thereof.

What is claimed is: 
     
         1 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium having tangibly embodied thereon and accessible therefrom instructions interpretable by at least one data processing device, the instructions are configured for causing the at least one data processing device to perform a method of enabling a user to:
 determine cloud service resource requirements of a modeled cloud service solution;   deploy an actual cloud service solution having cloud service resources defined by the cloud service resource requirements of the modeled cloud service solution; and   after deploying the actual cloud service solution, access information characterizing utilization of the cloud service resources of the actual cloud service solution with respect to available capacity thereof.   
     
     
         2 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of  claim 1  wherein enabling the user to determine the cloud service resource requirements includes enabling the user to compare cloud service resources of a plurality of cloud service providers based upon a standardized resource capacity parameter that is derived dependent upon a plurality of cloud service resource parameters. 
     
     
         3 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of  claim 2  wherein the cloud service resource parameters include parameters associated with at least two of processor speed, random access memory, storage and bandwidth. 
     
     
         4 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of  claim 2  wherein the cloud service resource parameters include parameters associated with processor speed, random access memory, storage and bandwidth and managed services. 
     
     
         5 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of  claim 2  wherein enabling the user to determine the cloud service resource requirements includes enabling the user to aggregate cloud service offerings from a plurality of cloud service providers. 
     
     
         6 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of  claim 5  wherein the cloud service resource parameters include parameters associated with at least two of processor speed, random access memory, storage and bandwidth. 
     
     
         7 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of  claim 1  wherein enabling the user to determine the cloud service resource requirements includes enabling the user to aggregate cloud service offerings from a plurality of cloud service providers. 
     
     
         8 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of  claim 1  wherein the instructions are configured for causing the at least one data processing device to perform a method of enabling the user to access information comparing at last one of:
 planned capacity metrics of the modeled cloud service solution to actual capacity metrics resulting from deployment of the actual cloud service solution; and 
 planned cost metrics of the modeled cloud service solution to actual cost metrics resulting from deployment of the actual cloud service solution. 
 
     
     
         9 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of  claim 8  wherein enabling the user to determine the cloud service resource requirements includes enabling the user to aggregate cloud service offerings from a plurality of cloud service providers. 
     
     
         10 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of  claim 9  wherein:
 the planned capacity metrics and the actual capacity metrics each include a metric represented by a standardized resource capacity parameter that is derived dependent upon a plurality of cloud service resource parameters; and 
 the cloud service resource parameters include parameters associated with at least two of processor speed, random access memory, storage and bandwidth. 
 
     
     
         11 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium having tangibly embodied thereon and accessible therefrom instructions interpretable by at least one data processing device, the instructions are configured for causing the at least one data processing device to perform a method of enabling a user to:
 determine cloud service resource requirements of a modeled cloud service solution, wherein enabling the user to determine cloud service resource requirements includes enabling the user to assess planned resource metrics characterizing one or more deployment attributes of the modeled cloud service solution;   deploy an actual cloud service solution having cloud service resources defined by the cloud service resource requirements of the modeled cloud service solution; and   access information comparing the planned resource metrics characterizing the one or more deployment attributes of the modeled cloud service solution to actual resource metrics characterizing the one or more deployment attributes resulting from deployment of the actual cloud service solution.   
     
     
         12 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of  claim 11  wherein the planned resource metrics and the actual resource metrics each include a metric characterizing virtual data center (VDC) utilization, a metric characterizing VDC capacity and a metric characterizing VDC cost. 
     
     
         13 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of  claim 11  wherein the planned resource metrics and the actual resource metrics each include a metric represented by a standardized resource capacity parameter that is derived dependent upon a plurality of cloud service resource parameters. 
     
     
         14 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of  claim 13  wherein the cloud service resource parameters include parameters associated with at least two of processor speed, random access memory, storage and bandwidth. 
     
     
         15 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of  claim 13  wherein the cloud service resource parameters include parameters associated with processor speed, random access memory, storage and bandwidth and managed services. 
     
     
         16 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of  claim 11  wherein enabling the user to access information comparing the planned resource metrics to the actual resource metrics includes enabling the user to access information comparing at least one of:
 planned capacity metrics of the modeled cloud service solution to actual capacity metrics resulting from deployment of the actual cloud service solution; and 
 planned cost metrics of the modeled cloud service solution to actual cost metrics resulting from deployment of the actual cloud service solution.

The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of  claim 16  wherein the planned capacity metrics and the actual capacity metrics each include a metric represented by a standardized resource capacity parameter that is derived dependent upon a plurality of cloud service resource parameters. 
     
     
         18 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium having tangibly embodied thereon and accessible therefrom instructions interpretable by at least one data processing device, the instructions are configured for causing the at least one data processing device to perform a method of enabling a user to:
 procure, from the one or more cloud service providers, cloud service resources fulfilling cloud service resource requirements of a virtual data center (VDC);   deploy the VDC via the one or more cloud service providers in accordance with the service resource requirements thereof; and   access information characterizing resource metrics for the VDC resulting from deployment thereof.   
     
     
         19 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of  claim 18  wherein the service resource requirements include a requirement defined by processor speed, a requirement defined by random access memory, a requirement defined by storage and a requirement defined by bandwidth. 
     
     
         20 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of  claim 18  wherein the resource metrics include a metric characterizing virtual data center (VDC) utilization, a metric characterizing VDC capacity and a metric characterizing VDC cost. 
     
     
         21 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of  claim 18  wherein the resource metrics include a metric represented by a standardized resource capacity parameter that is derived dependent upon a plurality of cloud service resource parameters. 
     
     
         22 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of  claim 21  wherein the cloud service resource parameters include parameters associated with at least two of processor speed, random access memory, storage and bandwidth. 
     
     
         23 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of  claim 21  wherein the cloud service resource parameters include parameters associated with processor speed, random access memory, storage and bandwidth and managed services. 
     
     
         24 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of  claim 18  wherein enabling a user to access the information characterizing the resource metrics includes enabling the user to display information comparing planned capacity metrics of the VDC to actual capacity metrics resulting from deployment of the VDC. 
     
     
         25 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of  claim 24  wherein the planned capacity metrics and the actual capacity metrics each include a metric represented by a standardized resource capacity parameter that is derived dependent upon a plurality of cloud service resource parameters.
