Abstract

The film sealing and wrapping machine with a rotary cut and seal jaw is provided. The rotary cut and seal jaw has an internal sliding mechanism which provides for smooth and quiet operation. The rotational speed of the jaw may be varied to increase through put and to provide for a title bag around products. The rotary cut and seal jaw may comprise a seal bar and pressure pad may both be spring loaded to self align the seal bar and pressure pad during the sealing and cutting process. Lastly, a gap defined by a belt disposed upstream and downstream of the seal bar and pressure pad may be mechanically linked to the pressure pad through a control carriage.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 - 4 . (canceled)

         5 . A film sealing and wrapping machine for sealing and cutting a tube of film wrapped around products to form a film bag with the product enclosed within the film bag, the machine comprising:
 a seal and cut jaw for sealing and cutting the tube of film, the jaw comprising:
 an upper cross member spring mounted to an upper rotating drum;
 a lower cross member spring mounted to a lower rotating drum, rotation of the upper and lower drums and cross members being synchronized so the upper and lower cross members approach each other and traverse away from each other in unison in a direction of travel of the tube of film;
 wherein the spring loaded upper and lower cross members are self aligning for forming stronger seals and cleaner cuts on the film bags;
   a conveyor system disposed adjacent to the seal and cut jaw for delivering the product wrapped with film between the upper and lower cross members and for transporting the film bag with product disposed therein away from the seal and cut jaw.

         6 . The machine of claim 5 wherein a stroke of the upper cross member and as stroke of the lower cross member is adjustable.

         7 . The machine of claim 6 wherein the adjustment is with a nut or bolt.

         8 . The machine of claim 6 wherein the adjustment is accomplished by changing out the springs to allow for more or less deflection.

         9 . The machine of claim 5 wherein spring forces of the spring loaded upper and lower cross members are adjustable.

         10 . A film sealing and wrapping machine for sealing and cutting a tube of film wrapped around products to form a film bag with the product enclosed within the film bag, the machine comprising:
 a seal and cut jaw for sealing and cutting the film tube to form the film bag, the jaw comprising:
 an upper cross member mounted to an upper rotating drum;
 a lower cross member mounted to a lower rotating drum, rotation of the upper and lower drums and cross members being synchronized so the upper and lower cross members approach each other and traverse away from each other;
   a conveyor system defining a linear speed, the conveyor system disposed adjacent to the seal and cut jaw for delivering the product wrapped within the tube of film between the upper and lower cross members and for transporting the product enclosed within the film bag away from the seal and cut jaw; wherein a rotational speed of the upper and lower cross members will increase or decrease as the upper and lower cross members enter between two products and resolve to a horizontal speed about equal to the linear speed of the conveyor system to prevent the upper and lower cross members.

         11 . The machine of claim 10 wherein the upper cross member is a heater, and the lower cross member is a pressure pad.

         12 . The machine of claim 10 wherein the rotational speed of the upper rotating drum stops at twelve o clock position and the rotational speed of the lower rotating drum stops at six o clock position to wait until a subsequent gap between products approach the upper and lower cross members.

         13 . The machine of claim 10 wherein the tangential speed of the upper rotating drum and the tangential speed of the lower rotating drum is less than the linear speed of the conveyor system.

         14 . The machine of claim 10 wherein the tangential speed of the upper rotating drain and the tangential speed of the lower rotating drum is greater than the linear speed of the conveyor system.

         15 . (canceled)
