Abstract

The present invention relates to video provided over one or more networks. Methods and systems for providing, playing, and/or editing video having multiple tracks of timed text are provided in different embodiments of the present invention.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

         1 . A computer-implemented method comprising:
 obtaining video data associated with a video having multiple tracks of timed text over a network; defining, based on user input, metadata for a first track of the multiple tracks; creating a track list for the video using the metadata of the first track; and editing timed text for the first track.

         2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the metadata includes at least one of a name of the first track, the language of text data in the timed text of the first track, or data format for the first track.

         3 . A system comprising:
 a memory; a processor, coupled to the memory; and a multi-track timed text editor, executed by the processor from the memory, to:
 obtain video data associated with a video having multiple tracks of timed text over a network;
 define, based on user input, metadata for a first track of the multiple tracks;
 create a track list for the video using the metadata of the first track; and
 edit timed text for the first track.

         4 . The system of claim 3 , wherein the metadata includes at least one of a name of the first track, the language of text data in the timed text of the first track, or data format for the first track.

         5 . A non-transitory computer readable storage medium including data that, when executed by a processor, causes the processor to perform operations comprising:
 obtaining video data associated with a video having multiple tracks of timed text over a network; defining, based on user input, metadata for a first track of the multiple tracks; creating a track list for the video using the metadata of the first track; and editing timed text for the first track.

         6 . The device of claim 5 , wherein the metadata includes at least one of a name of the first track, the language of text data in the timed text of the first track, or data format for the first track.

         7 . (canceled)

         8 . (canceled)

         9 . The method of claim 1 further comprising:
 providing a user interface to facilitate the user input for the metadata, the user interface further facilitating the editing of the timed text.

         10 . The method of claim 1 further comprising:
 creating a new track for the video based on user input.

         11 . The method of claim 10 wherein creating the new track comprises:
 defining metadata for the new track;
 adding the new track to the track list using the metadata of the new track; and
 adding timed text for the new track.

         12 . The method of claim 11 wherein the timed text for the new track comprises alternating lines corresponding to lines of text to appear during a playback of the video, each of the lines of text being provided by a user in association with a desired time interval during the playback of the video.
