Abstract
In accordance with at least some embodiments, systems and methods provide for storing an indication of an initial purchase of a first new product from a supplier and by an initial purchaser and facilitating a provision to the initial purchaser of the second product by the supplier and a return of the pre-owned product from the initial purchaser to the supplier.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A method, comprising:
determining, by a processor of a computing device operated on behalf of a supplier, a value associated with a first product that is in the possession of a first party, which first product was previously purchased by the first party from the supplier; determining, by the processor and after the first product was purchased, a second product available for sale from the supplier, the second product comprising an upgraded version of the first product; causing, by the processor, an offer to be output to the first party on behalf of the supplier, the offer comprising an offer by the supplier to re-purchase the first product from the first party in exchange for the first party purchasing the second product from the supplier; arranging, by the processor, by the processor and based at least in part on an acceptance of the offer by the first party, for the first party to provide the first product to the supplier; and authorizing, by the processor and based at least in part on the arranging, for the second product to be provided the first party.
2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
determining a value to be provided to the first party by the supplier upon the first party agreeing to return the first product to the supplier; and including an indication of the value in the offer.
3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the value associated with the first product comprises a fair market value.
4 . The method of claim 3 , further comprising:
determining a condition of the first product prior to determining the value.
5 . The method of claim 4 , wherein the fair market value is based at least in part the condition of the first product.
6 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:
determining, prior to the offer being output, whether the offer is to be output to the first party based at least in part on one or more of: (i) a term agreed upon between the supplier of the first product and the first party at a time of purchase of the first product; (ii) a term specified by a supplier of the first product; (iii) an elapsed time since the purchase of the first product by the first party; (iv) an availability of the second product; and (v) a value associated with the second product.
7 . A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing instructions for controlling a processor of a computing device, which instructions when executed by the processor cause the computing device to:
store an indication of an initial purchase of a first new product from a supplier and by an initial purchaser, the initial purchase being on an initial sale date and for a first price, thereby storing an indication of a pre-owned product owned by the initial purchaser after a completion of the initial purchase; cause a message to be output to the initial purchaser from the supplier, the message comprising (i) an offer to re-purchase by the supplier the pre-owned product from the initial purchaser, and (ii) an offer to sell by the supplier a second product to the initial purchaser; determine that the initial purchaser has agreed to have the supplier re-purchase the pre-owned product and to purchase the second product from the supplier; and facilitate a provision to the initial purchaser of the second product by the supplier and a return of the pre-owned product from the initial purchaser to the supplier.
8 . The computer-readable medium of claim 7 , wherein the second product comprises an upgraded version of the first product.
9 . The computer-readable medium of claim 7 , wherein the instructions when executed by the processor further cause the computing device to:
determine a value to be provided to the initial purchaser by the supplier upon the initial purchaser agreeing to return the pre-owned product to the supplier; and include an indication of the value in the message.
10 . The computer-readable medium of claim 9 , wherein the value associated with the pre-owned product comprises a fair market value.
11 . The computer-readable medium of claim 10 , wherein the instructions when executed by the processor further cause the computing device to:
determine a condition of the pre-owned product prior to determining the value.
12 . The computer-readable medium of claim 11 , wherein the fair market value is based at least in part the condition of the pre-owned product.
13 . The computer-readable medium of claim 7 , wherein the instructions when executed by the processor further cause the computing device to:
determine, prior to the message being output, whether the message is to be output to the initial purchaser based at least in part on one or more of: (i) a term agreed upon between the supplier of the pre-owned product and the initial purchaser at a time of the initial purchase of the pre-owned product; (ii) a term specified by a supplier of the pre-owned product; (iii) an elapsed time since the initial purchase of the pre-owned product by the initial purchaser; (iv) an availability of the second product; and (v) a value associated with the second product.
14 . The computer-readable medium of claim 7 , wherein the instructions when executed by the processor further cause the computing device to:
receive a query from a potential subsequent purchaser to purchase a product which matches the pre-owned product.
15 . The computer-readable medium of claim 7 , wherein the query comprises a request for information regarding a selling price of the pre-owned product.
16 . A system, comprising:
a processor; and a storage device in communication with said processor and storing instructions adapted to be executed by said processor to:
store an indication of an initial purchase of a first new product from a supplier and by an initial purchaser, the initial purchase being on an initial sale date and for a first price, thereby storing an indication of a pre-owned product owned by the initial purchaser after a completion of the initial purchase;
cause a message to be output to the initial purchaser from the supplier, the message comprising (i) an offer to re-purchase by the supplier the pre-owned product from the initial purchaser, and (ii) an offer to sell by the supplier a second product to the initial purchaser;
determine that the initial purchaser has agreed to have the supplier re-purchase the pre-owned product and to purchase the second product from the supplier; and
facilitate a provision to the initial purchaser of the second product by the supplier and a return of the pre-owned product from the initial purchaser to the supplier.
17 . The computer-readable medium of claim 16 , wherein the second product comprises an upgraded version of the first product.
18 . The computer-readable medium of claim 16 , wherein the instructions when executed by the processor further cause the computing device to:
determine a value to be provided to the initial purchaser by the supplier upon the initial purchaser agreeing to return the pre-owned product to the supplier; and include an indication of the value in the message
19 . The computer-readable medium of claim 16 , wherein the instructions when executed by the processor further cause the computing device to:
determine, prior to the message being output, whether the message is to be output to the initial purchaser based at least in part on one or more of: (i) a term agreed upon between the supplier of the pre-owned product and the initial purchaser at a time of the initial purchase of the pre-owned product; (ii) a term specified by a supplier of the pre-owned product; (iii) an elapsed time since the initial purchase of the pre-owned product by the initial purchaser; (iv) an availability of the second product; and (v) a value associated with the second product.Cited by (0)
