Seat Routine Processes
Abstract
The subject matter of this specification can be embodied in, among other things, a process that includes selecting accommodations during a travel reservation is described. The method includes receiving, at a software application that manages travel reservations, input that customizes configurable attributes of software travel objects representing accommodations used in transportation of passengers. The method also includes receiving criteria from a customer specifying preferences that affect a passenger's experience during travel, ranking the received criteria so that one or more criterion are preferred, selecting one or more of the accommodations using an optimization function to compare the ranked criteria to the customized configurable attributes, and outputting the selected one or more accommodations for use by the customer in selecting a first accommodation for the passenger.

receiving, by one or more processors, criteria specifying preferences of an entity that is serviceable by a reservation process, the preferences being associated with one or more particular travel accommodations of a plurality of different travel accommodations, the criteria being associated with a plurality of configurable properties, and the plurality of configurable properties corresponding, at least in part, to attributes associated with the plurality of different travel accommodations; receiving, by the one or more processors, an initial ranking of the criteria from a profile of the entity; determining, by the one or more processors, whether any of a plurality of unreserved accommodations satisfy the initial ranking of the criteria; when the plurality of unreserved accommodations do not satisfy the initial ranking of the criteria:
re-ranking, by the one or more processors, the initial ranking of the criteria up to a threshold number of times, and
following each re-ranking, determining, by the one or more processors, whether any of the plurality of the unreserved accommodations satisfy the re-ranked criteria;
when the criteria have been re-ranked the threshold number of times and none of the plurality of unreserved accommodations satisfy the re-ranked criteria, determining, by the one or more processors, whether any accommodations previously reserved by another entity satisfy the initial ranking of the criteria; when accommodations previously reserved by another entity satisfy the initial ranking of the criteria, selecting, by the one or more processors, one or more accommodations from one or more accommodations previously reserved by the other entity; and outputting, by the one or more processors, a representation of the selected one or more accommodations.
23 . The computer-implemented method of claim 22 , wherein the entity comprises a passenger, a crew member, or a cargo.
24 . The computer-implemented method of claim 22 , further comprising storing data defining a plurality of configurable travel objects, each configurable travel object representing one of the plurality of different travel accommodations and comprising the plurality of configurable properties.
25 . The computer-implemented method of claim 24 , further comprising receiving input reflecting customization of at least some of the configurable properties so as to configure one or more configurable travel objects of the plurality of configurable travel objects.
26 . The computer-implemented method of claim 22 , further comprising dynamically modifying attribute values of generic software travel objects based on one or more attributes of the one or more particular travel accommodations.
27 . The computer-implemented method of claim 22 , wherein the attributes are associated with one or more of an ambience of a section of a travel carrier, personal traits of passengers located near accommodations, and social groups of the passengers located near the accommodations.
28 . The computer-implemented method of claim 22 , wherein receiving the initial ranking further comprises receiving a ranking indicator from the profile specifying which criteria to prefer over other criteria.
29 . The computer-implemented method of claim 22 , wherein selecting the one or more accommodations from the one or more accommodations previously reserved comprises reassigning one or more other entities having the accommodations previously reserved to one or more different unreserved accommodations.
30 . The computer-implemented method of claim 29 , wherein reassigning the one or more other entities to the one or more different unreserved accommodations comprises keeping multiple accommodations together that were previously reserved together.
31 . The computer-implemented method of claim 22 , further comprising reserving a selected accommodation.
32 . A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium coupled to one or more processors and having instructions stored thereon which, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to perform operations for selecting travel accommodations, the operations comprising:
receiving criteria specifying preferences of an entity that is serviceable by a reservation process, the preferences being associated with one or more particular travel accommodations of a plurality of different travel accommodations, the criteria being associated with a plurality of configurable properties, and the plurality of configurable properties corresponding, at least in part, to attributes associated with the plurality of different travel accommodations; receiving an initial ranking of the criteria from a profile of the entity; determining whether any of a plurality of unreserved accommodations satisfy the initial ranking of the criteria; when the plurality of unreserved accommodations do not satisfy the initial ranking of the criteria:
re-ranking the initial ranking of the criteria up to a threshold number of times, and
following each re-ranking, determining whether any of the plurality of the unreserved accommodations satisfy the re-ranked criteria;
when the criteria have been re-ranked the threshold number of times and none of the plurality of unreserved accommodations satisfy the re-ranked criteria, determining whether any accommodations previously reserved by another entity satisfy the initial ranking of the criteria; when accommodations previously reserved by another entity satisfy the initial ranking of the criteria, selecting one or more accommodations from one or more accommodations previously reserved by the other entity; and outputting a representation of the selected one or more accommodations.
33 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 32 , wherein the entity comprises a passenger, a crew member, or a cargo.
34 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 32 , wherein the operations further comprise storing data defining a plurality of configurable travel objects, each configurable travel object representing one of the plurality of different travel accommodations and comprising the plurality of configurable properties.
35 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 34 , wherein the operations further comprise receiving input reflecting customization of at least some of the configurable properties so as to configure one or more configurable travel objects of the plurality of configurable travel objects.
36 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 32 , wherein the operations further comprise dynamically modifying attribute values of generic software travel objects based on one or more attributes of the one or more particular travel accommodations.
37 . The non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of claim 32 , wherein the attributes are associated with one or more of an ambience of a section of a travel carrier, personal traits of passengers located near accommodations, and social groups of the passengers located near the accommodations.
