Abstract

A catheter is provided that includes an elongated body extending from a proximal end to a distal end. The body defines at least one lumen. A tip has a proximal end that is disposed in abutting relation with the distal end of the body such that the body is fixed with the tip. The tip defines a lateral opening that is defined by a wall including an external radius disposed in transition with an outer surface of the tip and an internal radius disposed in transition with an inner surface of the tip. The external radius has a non-perpendicular profile with the outer surface of the tip.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 .- 13 . (canceled)

14 . A connector for a catheter including a tip, a proximal end, a drainage lumen and an inflation lumen, the connector comprising:
a distal end configured to connect to the proximal end of the catheter; an adapter coupled to the distal end, the adapter including a lumen configured to communicate with the drainage lumen; and an arm coupled to the distal end and the adapter, the arm including a lumen configured to communicate with the inflation lumen.

15 . The connector of claim 14 , further comprising a projection configured to provide an indication of an orientation of the tip.

16 . The connector of claim 15 , wherein the projection provides a tactile indication of the orientation of the tip.

17 . The connector of claim 16 , wherein the adapter is fabricated from a material having a first indicia of color,
wherein the projection is fabricated from a material having a second indicia of color, and wherein the first indicia of color is different from the second indicia of color to provide a visual indication of the orientation of the tip.

18 . The connector of claim 14 , wherein the adapter includes a proximate end sized and configured to connect to a drainage receptacle.

19 . The connector of claim 14 , wherein the arm includes a proximate end sized and configured to connect to an inflation source.

20 . The connector of claim 14 , wherein the adapter and the arm are arranged such that the lumen included in the adapter is centrally located in the distal end of the connector, and the lumen included in the arm is attached radially outward relative to the lumen included in the adapter.

21 . A catheter employed with an inflation source and a drainage receptacle, the catheter comprising:
a body extending from a proximal end to a distal end, the body defining a drainage lumen and an inflation lumen; a tip fixed to the distal end of the body; and a connector coupled to the proximal end of the body, the connector including:
an adapter having a first lumen fluidly coupled to the drain lumen, the adapter configured to connect to the drainage receptacle; and
an arm having a second lumen fluidly coupled to the inflation lumen, the arm configured to connect to the inflation source.

22 . The catheter of claim 21 , wherein a wall of the body defines the drainage lumen.

23 . The catheter of claim 22 , wherein the wall includes an outer surface, and
wherein the catheter further comprises a port configured to provide fluid communication between the inflation lumen and the outer surface.

24 . The catheter of claim 23 , further comprising an expandable member in fluid communication with the inflation lumen via the port.

25 . The catheter of claim 24 , wherein the expandable member includes a cuff located coaxially about the body,
wherein the cuff in combination with the outer surface define an inflation cavity, and wherein the inflation cavity is configured to be placed in fluid communication with the inflation source via the inflation lumen to inflate the cuff.

26 . The catheter of claim 24 , wherein the catheter is a urinary catheter, and
wherein the expandable member is configured to assist in retaining the catheter within the bladder when the expandable member is inflated.

27 . The catheter of claim 23 , wherein the inflation lumen terminates at the port.

28 . The catheter of claim 21 , wherein the connector includes a projection configured to provide an indication of an orientation of the tip.

29 . The catheter of claim 28 , wherein the projection provides a tactile indication of the orientation of the tip.

30 . The connector of claim 29 , wherein the adapter is fabricated from a material having a first indicia of color,
wherein the projection is fabricated from a material having a second indicia of color, and wherein the first indicia of color is different from the second indicia of color to provide a visual indication of the orientation of the tip.
