Authentication systems, operations, processing, and interactions
Abstract
Systems and methods for biometrically identifying an individual for purchasing a product and/or service without a need for the individual to input authentication data into a system/device are described. Data representative of a scanned iris of a customer desiring to make a purchase may be made. The customer may be identified based upon the scanned iris. A determination may be made as to whether the identified customer has a plurality of accounts at a financial entity. Information of a selected account to make the purchase may be received. Sufficient funds in the selected account to make the purchase may be determined. If insufficient, a different account may be identified to make the purchase. Sufficient funds in the different account may be determined and funds in the different account may be decreased by the associated payment amount.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A method comprising:
determining whether an individual has entered a field of view of a biometric scanning device associated with a restricted area; receiving data representative of a scanned iris of the individual; identifying the individual based upon the scanned iris; determining whether the identified individual is authorized to access one or more authorized areas of the restricted area; if authorized, permitting entry of the identified individual into the one or more authorized areas of the restricted area; biometrically monitoring movement of the identified individual within the one or more authorized areas of the restricted area; determining whether an event has occurred to initiate notification of the event; and upon determining that the event has occurred, initiating a notification of the event.
2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein determining whether an event has occurred to initiate notification of the event includes determining whether the identified individual remains within the one or more authorized areas of the restricted area.
3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein upon determining that the event has occurred, initiating a notification of the event includes upon determining that the identified individual does not remain within the one or more authorized areas, initiating the notification of the event that the identified individual does not remain within the one or more authorized areas of the restricted area.
4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the biometrically monitoring movement of the identified individual within the one or more authorized areas of the restricted area includes receiving data representative of the scanned iris of the identified individual at a location within the one or more authorized areas of the restricted area.
5 . The method of claim 4 , wherein the biometrically monitoring movement of the identified individual within the one or more authorized areas of the restricted area includes receiving data representative of a field of view of a camera within the one or more authorized areas of the restricted area.
6 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising maintaining a logging system to record movement of the identified individual and to record deposit or removal of items by the identified individual within the one or more authorized areas of the restricted area.
7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the determining that the event has occurred, initiating a notification of the event includes sending the notification of the event to personnel, wherein the notification includes data representative of one or more identified individuals within the one or more authorized areas of the restricted area where the event occurred.
8 . The method of claim 1 , wherein permitting entry of the identified individual into the one or more authorized areas of the restricted area includes determining a weight of the identified individual, and wherein determining whether an event has occurred to initiate notification of the event includes determining that the weight of the identified individual has changed beyond an allowable threshold.
9 . The method of claim 8 , wherein biometrically monitoring movement of the identified individual within the one or more authorized areas of the restricted area includes periodically reweighing the identified individual within the one or more authorized areas of the restricted area.
10 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the event is a determination that the weight of the identified individual has increased beyond the allowable threshold and the notification includes data identifying that the identified individual has taken an item from the one or more authorized areas of the restricted area.
11 . A method comprising:
determining whether a first individual has entered a field of view of a biometric scanning device associated with a restricted area; receiving first data representative of a scanned iris of the first individual; receiving second data representative of a scanned iris of a second individual, the first individual being associated with the second individual; identifying the first individual based upon the scanned iris of the first individual; identifying the second individual based upon the scanned iris of the second individual; permitting entry of the identified second individual into the restricted area; biometrically monitoring movement of the identified second individual within the restricted area; determining whether a third individual is attempting to remove the second individual from the restricted area; determining whether the third individual is authorized to remove the second individual from the restricted area; and upon determining that the third individual is not authorized, initiating a notification of the attempted removal.
12 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the first and third individual are the same individual.
13 . The method of claim 11 , wherein the second individual is a child and the first individual is a guardian of the child.
14 . The method of claim 11 , further comprising receiving data representative of individuals authorized to remove the second individual from the restricted area.
15 . The method of claim 11 , further comprising maintaining a logging system to record entry of the identified second individual to the restricted area and removal of the identified second individual from the restricted area.
16 . A method comprising:
determining whether an individual has entered a field of view of a biometric scanning device associated with an elevator of a building; receiving data representative of a scanned iris of the individual; identifying the individual based upon the scanned iris; determining whether the identified individual is authorized to access the elevator; if authorized to access the elevator, determining whether the identified individual is authorized to access a plurality of floors of the building or a single floor of the building;
if authorized to access a single floor,
permitting entry of the identified individual into the elevator,
moving the elevator the single floor, and
permitting exit of the identified individual at the single floor; and
if authorized to access the plurality of floors,
permitting entry of the identified individual into the elevator,
determining a default floor of the plurality of floors,
moving the elevator to the determined floor, and
permitting exit of the identified individual at the determined floor.
17 . The method of claim 16 , further comprising maintaining a record of the floor that the identified individual exited on.
18 . The method of claim 17 , wherein determining the default floor of the plurality of floors includes:
reviewing historical records of floors that the identified individual has exited on; and determining the default floor in response to reviewing historical records.
19 . The method of claim 16 , wherein determining a default floor of the plurality of floors includes:
determining an initial floor of the plurality of floors to permit exit of the identified individual; receiving a command to override the determined initial floor; and choosing a different floor form the initial floor as the default floor.
20 . An apparatus comprising:
one or more processors; and memory storing computer readable instructions that, when executed, cause the one or more processors to perform a method comprising:
determining whether an individual has entered a field of view of a biometric scanning device associated with a restricted area;
receiving data representative of a scanned iris of the individual;
identifying the individual based upon the scanned iris;
determining whether the identified individual is authorized to access one or more authorized areas of the restricted area;
if authorized, permitting entry of the identified individual into the one or more authorized areas of the restricted area;
biometrically monitoring movement of the identified individual within the one or more authorized areas of the restricted area;
determining whether an event has occurred to initiate notification of the event; and
upon determining that the event has occurred, initiating a notification of the event.Cited by (0)
