Abstract

According to the present invention, there is provided a method of customizing a seller application that facilitates communication of listings to a network-based transaction facility. The method includes facilitating selection of at least one targeted site from a plurality of targeted sites presented to a user, wherein the plurality of targeted sites are supported by the network-based transaction facility. The method further includes configuring the seller application according to the at least one targeted site selected.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A method comprising:
configuring an application executing on a client machine according to a default targeted site; facilitating selection of at least one targeted site from a plurality of targeted sites presented to the user, the plurality of targeted sites differing in at least one aspect from the default targeted site; and configuring the application according to the at least one targeted site selected including configuring the application to communicate with the at least one targeted site selected according to conventions associated with the at least one targeted site selected.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the default targeted site is the site from which a user downloaded the application.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the seller application maintains a list of the plurality of targeted sites presented to the user.

4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the configuring further includes configuring the seller application to present information site selected to the user in a manner consistent with the conventions associated with the at least one targeted.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the application is configured according to the at least one targeted site instead of the default targeted site.

6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the user may edit the default targeted site.

7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the user accesses a network-based transaction facility via the application.

8 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising selecting a primary language for displaying and entering information at the application.

9 . The method of claim 8 , wherein the primary language selected is different than a language of the at least one targeted site.

10 . The method of claim 9 , wherein the application, working offline, translates the language of the at least one targeted site selected to the primary language.

11 . The method of claim 1 wherein the configuring further includes setting up the application so that where relevant, operations involving currency are in a currency type configured for the at least one targeted site selected.

         12 . A system comprising:
a configuration module to configure an application executing on a client machine according to a default targeted site, the interface module further to configure the application according to at least one other targeted site, the configuring the application including configuring the application to communicate with the at least one other targeted site selected according to conventions associated with the at least one other targeted site; and an interface module to facilitate selection of the at least one other targeted site from a plurality of targeted sites presented to a user, the plurality of targeted sites differing in at least one aspect from the default targeted site.

13 . The system of claim 12 , wherein configuration by the configuration module further includes configuring the application to present information to the user in a manner consistent with the conventions associated with the at least one other targeted site.

14 . The system of claim 12 , wherein the user accesses a network-based transaction facility via the application.

15 . The system of claim 14 , wherein configuration by the configuration module further includes initializing the application to utilize transaction listing formats available in the at least one other targeted site.

16 . The system of claim 15 , wherein configuration by the configuration module further includes setting up the application to utilize transaction listing categories available in the at least one other targeted site.

17 . The system of claim 12 , wherein the application runs offline and allows the user to select the at least one other targeted site from the plurality of targeted sites.

18 . The system of claim 12 , configuration by the configuration further includes setting up the seller application so that where relevant, operations involving currency are in a currency type configured for the at least one targeted site selected.

19 . The system of claim 16 , wherein currency operations include inputting a currency value, displaying the currency value, and calculating the currency value.

20 . A tangible machine-readable storage medium having no transitory signals, and embodying instructions that, when executed by a machine, cause the machine to perform operations comprising:
configuring an application executing on a client machine according to a default targeted site; facilitating selection of at least one targeted site from a plurality of targeted sites presented to the user, the plurality of targeted sites differing in at least one aspect from the default targeted site; and configuring the application according to the at least one targeted site selected including configuring the application to communicate with the at least one targeted site selected according to conventions associated with the at least one targeted site selected.
