Scripting/proxy systems, methods and circuit arrangements
Abstract
Techniques for providing a proxy service are disclosed. In an embodiment, a proxy system includes a proxy service module and a scripting engine. The proxy service module is configured to intercept and process messages that travel between user devices and the Internet and the scripting engine is in communication with the proxy service module and is configured to manage a plurality of scripts that are written in one or more scripting languages. The proxy service module is configured to intercept a message that travels to the proxy service module and that is related to a user device, to associate a script with the intercepted message, and to cause the script to be executed at one of the user device, the proxy system, or a system that is external to the user device and the proxy system depending on the function associated with the script.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modifiedWhat is claimed is:
1 . A proxy system comprising:
a first interface configured to receive data specifying a script and one or more conditions for execution of the script, wherein the script is configured to invoke an application that is external to and remote from the proxy system when executed; a proxy service module in communication with the first interface, the proxy service module comprising a processor configured to:
intercept a message communicated between a user device and a communications network;
determine whether the one or more conditions for execution of the script are satisfied by the message; and
execute the script to invoke the application when it is determined that the one or more conditions for execution of the script are satisfied by the message;
wherein the first interface is configured to store the script and the one or more conditions in a database, and the proxy service module is configured to query the database to retrieve the script and the one or more conditions based on the message communicated between the user device and the communications network.
2 . The proxy system of claim 1 , wherein the data includes first data specifying one or more filters to be applied to the message.
3 . The proxy system of claim 2 , wherein the proxy service module is configured to apply the one or more filters to the message to determine a portion of the message to send to the cloud application when the script is executed.
4 . The proxy system of claim 3 , wherein applying the one or more filters comprises at least one of:
removing content from the body of the message; compressing content from the body of the message; summarizing content from the body of the message; sampling content from the body of the message; and extracting content from the body of the message.
5 . The proxy system of claim 1 , wherein the proxy system is located in an access network that provides wireless communications service to wireless devices.
6 . The proxy system of claim 1 , wherein the message is received according to one of the HyperText Transport Protocol (HTTP), the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP), the Short Message Service (SMS), and the Multimedia Messages Service (MMS).
7 . The proxy system of claim 1 , comprising a second interface configured to receive second data, the second data indicating an association between a website address and the script.
8 . The proxy system of claim 7 , wherein proxy service module is configured intercept the message when the message is addressed to the website.
9 . The proxy system of claim 1 , wherein the proxy service module is configured to receive a response from the application and embed data relating to the response in the message.
10 . A method for processing messages, the method comprising:
receiving, at a first interface, data specifying a script and one or more conditions for execution of the script, wherein the script is configured to invoke an application that is external to and remote from the proxy system when executed; intercepting, at proxy service module in communication with the first interface, a message communicated between a user device and a communications network; determining whether the one or more conditions for execution of the script are satisfied by the message; and executing, at the proxy service module, the script to invoke the application when it is determined that the one or more conditions for execution of the script are satisfied by the message; wherein the first interface is configured to store the script and the one or more conditions in a database, and the proxy service module is configured to query the database to retrieve the script and the one or more conditions based on the message communicated between the user device and the communications network.
11 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the data includes first data specifying one or more filters to be applied to the message.
12 . The method of claim 11 , comprising, at the proxy service module, applying the one or more filters to the message to determine a portion of the message to send to the cloud application when the script is executed.
13 . The method of claim 12 , wherein applying the one or more filters comprises at least one of:
removing content from the body of the message; compressing content from the body of the message; summarizing content from the body of the message; sampling content from the body of the message; and extracting content from the body of the message.
14 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the proxy system is located in an access network that provides wireless communications service to wireless devices.
15 . The method of claim 10 , wherein the message is received according to one of the HyperText Transport Protocol (HTTP), the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP), the Short Message Service (SMS), and the Multimedia Messages Service (MMS).
16 . The method of claim 10 , comprising receiving, at a second interface, second data, the second data indicating an association between a website address and the script.
17 . The method of claim 16 , comprising intercepting the message at proxy service module when the message is addressed to the website.
18 . The method of claim 10 , comprising receiving, at the proxy service module, a response from the application and embedding data relating to the response in the message.
19 . A computer program product comprising a non-transitory computer readable storage medium having computer readable instructions stored thereon, the computer readable instructions being executable by a computerized device to cause the computerized device to perform a method for processing messages, the method comprising:
receiving, at a first interface, data specifying a script and one or more conditions for execution of the script, wherein the script is configured to invoke an application that is external to and remote from the proxy system when executed; intercepting, at proxy service module in communication with the first interface, a message communicated between a user device and a communications network; determining whether the one or more conditions for execution of the script are satisfied by the message; and executing, at the proxy service module, the script to invoke the application when it is determined that the one or more conditions for execution of the script are satisfied by the message; wherein the first interface is configured to store the script and the one or more conditions in a database, and the proxy service module is configured to query the database to retrieve the script and the one or more conditions based on the message communicated between the user device and the communications network.Cited by (0)
