Abstract
The invention provides a composition the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease, wherein said composition compounds obtained from palm oil mill effluents, in particular from vegetative liquor from the milling of palm oil fruit.

exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A composition comprising an extract from palm oil mill effluents, wherein said composition comprises palm phenolics and flavonoids from aqueous stream or vegetation liquour of said palm oil mill effluents.
2 . The composition of claim 1 further comprising vitamin E.
3 . The composition of claim 2 wherein said vitamin E is tocotrienol.
4 . The composition of claim 3 wherein said vitamin E is present in the amount of about 1250 mg per kg of dietary fat consumed by a subject.
5 . The composition of claim 1 , wherein said palm phenolics are present in an amount of 1500 mg GAE/litre.
6 . The composition of claim 1 , wherein said composition is administered in a dosage form having a suitable vehicle for the administration of medications such as through capsules, tablets, syrups, elixirs and solutions for parenteral injection.
7 . The composition of claim 1 , wherein said composition is a veterinary composition.
8 . A nutritional supplement comprising a composition according to claim 1 and a suitable carrier therefor.
9 . The supplement of claim 8 , wherein said nutritional supplement is a dietary supplement.
10 . The supplement of claim 8 , wherein said subject is an animal.
11 . A method for reducing the propensity of a subject to develop fibrous plaque, said method comprising regularly administering to said subject an effective amount of a nutritional supplement according to claim 8 .
12 . The method of claim 11 , wherein said subject is a healthy individual.
13 . A method for reducing the propensity of a subject to develop athersclerotic lesions, said method comprising regularly administering to said subject an effective amount of a nutritional supplement according to claim 8 .
