Abstract
Content may be inserted at a duplicating device by inserting advertising content into a duplicated feed, and transmitting the duplicated feed to the terminal. The transmission of the duplicated feed is performed in response to a state of the terminal.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A method comprising:
identifying an advertisement insertion indicator in a data stream between a first portion of content and a second portion of content; identifying a first advertisement associated with the advertisement insertion indicator; identifying a second advertisement; identifying state information associated with a terminal of a user; determining, by at least one processor and based on the state information associated with the terminal, to present the second advertisement in place of the first advertisement; and presenting the second advertisement in place of the first advertisement.
2 . The method as recited in claim 1 , further comprising, based on the determination, associating the second advertisement with the advertisement insertion indicator.
3 . The method as recited in claim 1 , wherein determining to present the second advertisement in place of the first advertisement is further based on a comparison of the second advertisement and the first advertisement.
4 . The method as recited in claim 3 , wherein the first advertisement is associated with a first weight, and the second advertisement is associated with a second weight.
5 . The method as recited in claim 4 , wherein determining to present the second advertisement in place of the first advertisement is further based on a comparison of the first weight and the second weight.
6 . The method as recited in claim 5 , wherein the comparison of the first weight and the second weight determines that the second weight is greater than the first weight.
7 . The method as recited in claim 1 , further comprising identifying metadata associated with the first advertisement, and identifying metadata associated with the second advertisement.
8 . The method as recited in claim 7 , wherein determining to present the second advertisement in place of the first advertisement is further based on a comparison of the metadata associated with the first advertisement and the metadata associated with the first advertisement.
9 . The method as recited in claim 1 , wherein the first advertisement is a national advertisement and the second advertisement is a local advertisement.
10 . The method as recited in claim 1 , wherein the first advertisement is a default advertisement and the second advertisement is a customized advertisement.
11 . The method as recited in claim 1 , wherein the state information associated with the terminal of the user comprises one or more of a terminal profile or session information.
12 . The method as recited in claim 11 , wherein the terminal profile comprises one or more preferences associated with the user of the terminal.
13 . The method as recited in claim 12 , wherein the session information comprises information related to a number of data packets received by the terminal.
14 . A system comprising:
non-transitory computer readable storage medium having stored thereon computer-executable instructions that, when executed by a processor, cause the system to: identify an advertisement insertion indicator in a data stream between a first portion of content and a second portion of content; identify a first advertisement associated with the advertisement insertion indicator; identify a second advertisement; identify state information associated with a terminal of a user; determine, based on the state information associated with the terminal, to present the second advertisement in place of the first advertisement; and present the second advertisement in place of the first advertisement.
15 . The system as recited in claim 15 , wherein the first advertisement is associated with a first weight, and the second advertisement is associated with a second weight.
16 . The system as recited in claim 16 , further comprising computer-executable instructions that, when executed cause the system to determine to present the second advertisement in place of the first advertisement based on the state information associated with the terminal as well as on a comparison of the first weight and the second weight.
17 . The system as recited in claim 15 , wherein the first advertisement is a national advertisement and the second advertisement is a local advertisement.
18 . The system as recited in claim 15 , wherein the first advertisement is a default advertisement and the second advertisement is a customized advertisement.
19 . The system as recited in claim 18 , wherein the state information associated with the terminal comprises a user profile associated with the user of the terminal.
20 . The system as recited in claim 19 , wherein the customized advertisement is presented in place of the default advertisement based on the user profile associated with the user of the terminal.Cited by (0)
